Looks like someone had some fun with a drone near the set of Rogue One.
Fun points I see: Old school Stormies and Rebel blaster rifles. Neat looking set items. What appears to be the tail, or possibly prow, of a dropship/shuttle of some kind.

I love the one where they are all looking up at it. Haha.

...which got me considering, why?
Flashback sequence? Transitional sequence? Some old gear is still being used? That isn't Ep. 7 being filmed but Rogue One using some of the same sets?

Rogue One takes place shortly before A New Hope, doesn't it?

Its meant to be about the stealing of the DS plans... so yes.

Just thought of one more that I like. The New First Order has all of the updated SD's, armor, TIEs, etc. Perhaps there is an ex-Imperial remnant with a motley assortment of old gear that ends up siding with the Alliance?
ETA: With added discusson in another thread I personally think we are actually seeing a Rogue One set.

Per the topic title, yes, we are looking at a Rogue One set.

Still not confirmed. Just speculation based on the old-model stormtrooper armour, weapons and the fact that the "landers" were repainted from white to gray.
Could still just be a flashback.

Assuming those are new photos, and not something someone has been sitting on for months, yeah, Rogue One. It's kinda late to be shooting scenes for TFA when you consider there's obviously going to be some effects.

Also I see rebel style blaster rifles on one crate. A lone E-11 on the other. A pair of backbacks with big round things leaning against the crates. A dude with a brown uniform and a hat/goggles that look kinda like Hoth style but not.
Can anyone tell what's on the table with the black tablecloth? As far as I can tell it's an ammo bandolier and some.... sticks? Fishing poles? Spears?
Will this be the highly anticipated scene depicting Greek Hoplites fighting the Empire with Javelin?

Well, there's always time for reshoots ![]()
But yeah, you're probably right, it's probably Rogue One.
But still... unconfirmed.

Re: Black table.
I see a heavier blaster/launcher (top, by bandolier).
I see a "weird sci-fi" rifle (bottom)
I see grenades (far right)
I see what might be a wooden rifle (short version of what the sandpeople used in Ep IV?)
I also see two long spear looking things... force-pikes?
Of course, I am probably, litterally, seeing things.
What is all this unconfirmed/confirmed talk? The studio announced filming ended on 7 last Nov. The studio announced they'd reserved Pinewood in Dec for a new Star Wars film to begin shooting in 2015. Kathleen Kennedy announced at Comcicon principle photography on Rogue 1 would begin in August. There's no secret squirrel stuff here.

Could still be a reshoot though...
Not saying it's likely, but just that it's possible.
Yeah, pretty sure at this point any shooting for TFA would be limited to "Oh man, this would totally look better if there was a 2 second close up of Han's hand fondling the dondle on that spondle... Steve, go fondle that dondle real quick while I shoot it with the hand held!
If this was really a TFA reshoot, I imagine there would be some kind of point-defense AA gun in the area to prevent some guy with a camera drone from peeking.

****... now I need a dondle and a spondle in my sessions
What does a dondle and a spondle look like? ![]()
And what are their functions?
I need it! ![]()

It's not the first time they've taken pictures of the sets with a drone, so that wouldn't happen.

Whatever it is, it requires more strength then required to pull the ears off a gundark...

This article claims that the lander sets that were used in shooting The Force Awakens are being reused for Rogue One, and that looks like a Lambda-class cockpit, so it seems not everything in the First Order is new

Yeah, the article starts with this, though, so I wouldn't say that the article is any sort of proof: "They believe the photos are from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. However, I’m pretty sure this is fromRogue One. "
As for the lambda shuttle, I don't see one... are you thinking of the dropship?

You say drone. I say probe droid.

Only sort of. I just got off the phone with a NatGeo writer who's trying to piece together a story on the locations of TFA and heard a rumor they'd shot at the place I work. She wasnt' sure because Lucasfilm refused to even tell her where they'd been.
Sadly LF hasn't been here since Ben Burtt came through before ESB (though I did find the authorization form and scheduling document hidden away in a back room! I wonder if this phone number for Burtt is still good...)
