Epic Ship I'd most like to see is:

By Xander Krane, in X-Wing

"No not another one!"

I hear you cry. Fed up of endless Epic Ship debates. But this is not just an empty, "I want that one" topic. This one actually could happen, if FFG wanted to make it, because there is actually evidence of this ship in Return of the Jedi.

This is Canon. Proven to exist Canon. Best part is, it is a sensible 90 meters long and was built to battle fighters. So FFG, if you're reading and taking notes, make this the first Rebel 1/270 scale Epic Ship please. No rescaling shenanigans!

It is the Braha'tok Class Gunship!

Here is a link to the Wookieepedia page where I found it:

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Braha'tok-class_gunship

I've looked through a lot of ships, but this little gunship is a strong contender:

1. Exists in the movie Canon

2. Is an Anti-Starfighter Gunship

3. Is only 90 meters compared to Gozanti 63.8 meters

Please FFG make this for the Rebels. I can guarantee if you build it I will buy it. Probably more than one.

To quote Luke:

What a piece of junk!

But really, why would you want it? It'd probably end up fulfilling the same role as a Transport.

Personally I don't think there is much more room than for two huge ships for each faction.

I'd agree there are prettier ships. But a lot of these were larger than a CR-90.

Sounds Klingon.

Also, at 1:270 it would be LONGER than the corvette model, which should be much larger. Not impossible, but I think between that and the fact the corvette is a much more well known ship, it's unlikely.

I expect that by the time FFG gets around to makeing the third rebel epic there will be more desirable new options from the movies and cartoon. That said, I like the idea of getting a 1/270 scale model of this ship and using it as a correctly scaled proxy for the corvette.

Wild Karrde

I"m trying to see if I can talk the store in letting me field my S&V GR-75 kit just to see how it works and if it is properly balanced.

Wild Karrde

I hope not, that thing is the definition of ugly. But whatever, if it comes out I'll probably get one eventually.

Maybe I'll turn it into a carrying case, it already has a handle.

BFF-1 Bulk Freighter son!

No weapons! No unique pilots! No faction! It's little more than a fancy objective marker for Epic games, and I want it!

Maybe give it a turret slot so you have the option of putting a gun on it...if you don't want to be a cool guy!

YES!

Enjoying admiring your work Viceroy Bolda. That and your DP20 are great!

Xander - Thanks. The best part is seeing a ton of epic ships on the table. Games with each man flying one or two epics with 200 point squads are fun.

I'm ok with it being added as long as I don't have to buy it to get cards I want for small and large base ships...

Heck yeah! I would get that.

Plus a missions booklet.

I saw a free paper model somewhere for that, but for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to actually print it and put it together. Not sure if I'd actually pay for a real model though, I have yet to buy a GR-75, and that comes with a bunch of cards I would like.

I want the Star Jewel, with Jabba and a fun crew of scum freaks (including Slave Dancers!). Which fighter would come along? Canonically, it would a be Z95, but we already have 2 versions of it.

PS: OK, the Wild Karrde would be nice too.

I'd like Star Jewel too.

Not sure how it would work in the game.

But it would make an excellent Scum and Villainy Epic Ship.

Probably it would fulfill a role similar to a Transport/Gozanti

Then the Scum just need something to rival the CR-90/Raider

I'd like to see the Imperial Customs Corvette - never happen though. Too similar to the Raider. I may have to custom build my own and just use that model instead... never work out as pretty...

Some of these freighters would be great as well. Really, I think it'd be fun just to put a fleet of large ships down for the fighters to try to dodge and weeve through - give it that Endor feeling.

I was bored earlier today so played around with a squadron builder.

3 Transports and 2 Corvettes came to 411 points.

3 Raiders came to 417 points.

My prediction is that such a game, beside needing to sell a kidney just to buy all the ships, would need at least an 8×4 gaming area. Perhaps bigger!

It would make for an awesome game though.

Actually the Star Jewel, aka Minstrel-Class Space Yacht would be a Corvette/Raider

160 meters long.

CR-90 is 150 meters long.

Armed with 6 turbolasers and 6 ion cannons and a tractor beam.

Can also carry 6 Z-95s and 2 shuttles.

So the basic ship would be the Minstrel-Class, with Star Jewel and Dragon Pearl being Titles.

Yes, it is big.

It should also have lots of crew slots to house the Jabba's fatass entourage.

yes! Jabba'a yacht would be perfect. If FFG does it right, they will include repurpose cards for the Assault Carrier and GR-75 (with hard point upgrade). Then S&V will be up to par with the other factions.

I will play this game with you. Someone must make the sacrifice.

I'm thinking Imperial Spies have found a Rebel base and the Rebels must flee before the full might of the Empire arrives. Only one problem, as they break orbit/leave dock a trio of Raiders arrive with "Hyperdrive Ties", such as Advanced, Phantom and Defender.

Rebel fighters must do everything they can to protect their ships, but most important are the Transports. Lots of lives, supplies and equipment at stake.

In my list, I made sure the Rebel ships could have a one turn sprint. Also gave the Transports extra shielding.

Basically the scenario would be played across the length of the board, which needs to be 8×4. Both sides deploy their starfighters and large ships, but are permitted to keep some in reserve. All Epic ships enter their narrow board edge at the end of the first turn, counting the board edge as the front of their base.

Objectives:

Rebels must get their Epic Ships off the opposite board edge.

Empire must prevent the Rebel escape with extreme prejudice.
