Paul's R and Stuns

By Magumo, in UFS Rules Q & A

OK well after reading up on some rules today I need to just make sure of this. So I play 'Hammer Of The Gods" stun 2 E. I want to know, do they commit the foundations first and then i get to commit something or do i get to put a card to sleep first and then they commit for the stun. The reason I ask this is because of the first part of his R. It says after you play a stun ability. From what i been reading today it seems that the phrase playing the ability is pretty much just paying the cost of whatever it may be. So it seems the window to play any anything with that text is when you pay the cost but before it resolves right?.

Yes, playing an ability is just paying its cost, so his ability responds before the effect resolves, and he himself will resolve right away - you get your optional commit before the stun enhance resolves.

If it's to the same trigger the turn player gets the first opportunity to respond.

I'm going to use a Legacy example for this:

Paul plays Chain Throw. His opponent has Yoga Mastery in play.

Paul Enhances with Stun. Before his opponent gets a window to respond with Yoga, he may respond with Paul's ability. Since Yoga does not respond to Paul Phoenix's Response, Yoga cannot do anything right now. Paul's ability resolves, and he chooses to commit his opponent's Yoga Mastery. Now we return to the "Stun Enhance was played" window and Paul's opponent's Yoga is now committed, so he loses the chance to respond with it.

If Paul had committed anything else, his opponent would then afterward get the chance to respond with Yoga.

In other words active player gets first react then your opponent has a chance to react

So Paul's R would resolve unless the opponent had an R like Tag Along or something along those lines which would trigger to Paul going off and there R would resolve before mine right?

yeah in this case thier react would come first becuase it was triggered off of pauls react and not the stun....its a whole new react trigger in which if you choose you can react to first

oh ok i get it. just one more thing then. Lets say I have two R's that trigger to the stun and my opponent has one like Yoga Mastery. Would both my R's go first then?

No, players alternate, active player first.

Say for example you had two R:s and he had 2 Yoga Mastery ready. You use your first to commit one of the YM. He uses the remaining YM to negate the effects of your stun. If your second R: also responds to the trigger "after you play X ability" then you can still use it. YM negates the effects of the ability, but doesn't stop the ability from having been played, and thus doesn't remove the trigger.
