The Dragon Slayers

By Dwarf king Bronze beard, in Strategy and deck-building

I finally beated this Battle of Lake-Town quest and if someone is interested, i would like to post the deck in here. I bought this quest something like over a year ago and never won it until now.

I had total games with the same heroes about 20, but the deck i used to win this quest, it took like 5 tries to win. So basicly this deck does everything you have to do in this quest: defend Smaug's brutal attacks and deal with the bad shadow cards coming along with Smaug and some questing that you won't get location blocked. Heroes is used were Beregond, Mablung and Balin.

When i won, i had threat 42, damages 9, victory points 16 and rounds 9 so my points were 135 which is pretty good i think when comparing the difficulty of this quest.

I would also like to hear your scores and heroes you used in this quest, because i'm curious to know :)

I beat the quest after a few tries, pure solo, with Outlands and a low starting threat deck, to avoid attacks by Smaug. I think I had Sporfindel also, don't remember the 3rd hero (Sam Gangee, probably). I needed Asfaloth for all those Locations, and the Outlanders, at the end, that could attack for 32 hit points or something.

Even with Outlands, it took one tries or 2, because you have to manage the burning points on the city.

Yeah outlands are really good but how did you handle those close to the flame treacheries? Did you just have good luck or so many Anfalas herdsman's that they didn't bother you?

What was that card, again?

I played my Outlands with a 3 spheres deck : Spirit (Glorfindel), Leadershio (well.. Hirluin!) and Lore (Bilbo or Beravor for card draw). Spirit gives you access to treachery cancelation, and Lore gaives you access to healing. It can make a preety strong deck.

The advantage of Outlands with this quest is that if you keep your threat low, it gaives you time to put on the table all those nice Outland cards and add up amazing power to attack Smaug.

In other quests, Outlands can fail if you can't get some of the most useful cards out there in time (like Anfalas Herdsman). They can be kinda of a slow burn to get going. ;)
