Mine token overlaps two ships...hows does that work?

By droz69, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Conner Net, Proximity Mine, and Cluster Mines are large tokens. If I were to throw one of those out and they land on a base, they explode immediately. What if one of the token were to overlap two ships. How does that work? Do I choose which ship, or do both take the damage? Curious. New to bombs.

You choose which ship is effected.

According to the FAQ you get to choose which ship it hits.

ah, didn't see it in there. thanks

do i roll for the damage or does he?

do i roll for the damage or does he?

The sufferer of a mine rolls the damage

ok, thanks

Without having too much information regarding Conner Nets and Cluster Mines available at the moment, I would assume with the Cluster Mines, that would apply per token. So if you manage to get two tokens onto one ship, it should suffer the effects of each token. If you manage to spread the love and get tokens onto more than ship, then each ship with a token would get some possible damage.

I would imagine there'll be a clarification in the Wave VII associated FAQ release, or at least an addition to the Prox Mine entry.

Quick clarification : it doesnt explode immediately, but when the ship over which the mine rests goes to make its maneuver. Doesnt really change much, but its how the rules are written and maybe you can drop a bomb before the mine detonates.

Quick clarification : it doesnt explode immediately,

That was changed in the FAQ some time ago. The current FAQ is somewhat clumsily worded, but does say that it detonates immediately

From the proximity mine faq:

Note that a Proximity Mine token that is dropped

on a ship is placed under the ship’s base and does

immediately detonate. A ship is also considered to be

overlapping a Proximity Mine token when it executes a

maneuver, decloaks, or performs a boost or barrel roll.

absolutely right. The Mines specify that you pick ONE target. If you drop a bomb though, they may detonate in an area, so at the end of activation, they can hit multiple targets. This would come into effect if you where to drop a bomb onto lower PS ships, like two talas pursuing Emon at very close range, could have a bomb dropped in their lap, the bomber bails, and boom.

Ah, thanks. Didn't realize.
