Preview of TFA Beginner Game

It shows the map at 15:35

Jakku, Takodana, D'Quar and the origin point of Starkiller Base are highlighted in yellow.

Hosnian Prime's location does show up later on when he zooms in to talk about the Arkanis Sector.

I am so getting that laminated!

The one planet I could not find on that map that I was hoping would be there (especially because FFG outlined the planet in Nexus of Power) was Lothal. It is still "somewhere" but not on that map (at least not that I could see usefully).

Lothal is going to be generally in the same area as Eriadu, as that's Grand Moff Tarkin's homeworld, and part of the region he oversees. Since he oversees Lothal, too, they must be reasonably close together. Just how close they can be depends on how big a Grand Moff's jurisdiction is.

I am not a fan of "generally in the same area". In the movies he rides the Death Star from near Alderaan to Yavin, which is on the other side of the galaxy. I just don't want Lothal's location to be another stupid joke that they never tell us, like Yoda's species.

One could argue that the events of Episode IV are special circumstances: a weapon as powerful as the Death Star had never been built, or tested, before, and he had the potential to eliminate the Rebellion with it. He was clearly the one in command on the Death Star, so I doubt he'd let something as simple as jurisdictional boundaries prevent him from using the Emperor's new toy to wipe out the greatest military threat to the political order.

Of course, that might be over-thinking it. I have a tendency to do that sometimes :) .

Just updated the map again, making slight adjustments to the placement of planets from The Force Awakens!

Galaxy Map v1.5

Well by the time of the battle of Yavin Tarkin was in charge of the Oversector Outer that included all of the Outer Rim between Eriadu and Yavin, so he had a quite big zone of space to move around. Depending when the Oversector was created Lothal could be quite far from Eriadu and still be under Tarkin's jurisdiction, however i can't find any date for the creation of Oversector Outer.

Kainrath, excellent work with the map!

I've not actually seen Rebels; is Tarkin referred to in the show as 'Moff' or 'Grand Moff'? If the latter (and assuming that the meaning of the title didn't get altered in the Disney retcon), that would indicate that Oversector Outer has been created.

I believe that they actually refer to him as “Governor”, not “Moff” or “Grand Moff”. Which would leave room for him to be promoted before ANH.

Hmm. Now that I think about it, didn't Leia address him as 'Governor' right before Alderaan got 'sploded? And we know he was a Grand Moff by then because he died shortly thereafter.

Maybe that means that Moff and Governor are intercheangable in the Star Wars universe, like an offcial title and the layman translation of it. (of course the real reason is that using Moff Tarkin in the movie could have been mistaken for his full name by people at the cinema).

IMO by the time of Spark of Rebellion oversector outer has already been created, maybe not as big as it will become by episode 4 but i guess it already covers quite a lot of the Outer Rim.

Tarkin was granted the title of Grand Moff five years after the formation of the Empire, for whatever it's worth.

Then it's likely he has uthority over the vast majority of the Outer Rim already. This means that Lothal can be everywhere between eriadu and yavin. The mention of Mustafar as a prison would suggest Lothal is near eriadu, but the Ghost seems to move around the Galaxy at speed of plot, so that's no proof. We have to wait until disney decides to put Lothal on the map.

updated the map to include Lothal, as well as planets from Rogue One! (Jedha, Scarif, Eadu and Lah'mu)

Galaxy Map v1.6

Thanks Kainrath! I bookmarked this page to keep up with the updates!

Is there any sort of map key that has a list of planets, and where to look on the grid to find them?

ex. Toydaria : R-11

Thanks for all your work on this awesome map!!!

yes. The coordinates are often listed on the Wiki and the Star Wars Atlas has an index with them listed as well as what sector the planet is in. The Atlas web page also has sector maps.

Updated the map again...

Added Wobani and the Ring of Kafrene

Adjusted locations of Lah'mu and Takodana

It is not, but I will absolutely add it! I know it's near Tatooine in the Arkanis Sector, but beyond that I will have to do some research...

I may end up just having to make an educated guess on where exactly it's located...

Any input would be appreciated!

Just ordered a Vivyx ( https://www.vivyxprinting.com/ ) print of version 1.7 (on grommetless waterproof vinyl) (only $14 for 32" x 21" exc. shipping).

Looking forward to getting a hardcopy. Thanks @Kainrath!
