Welcome to my post game run down. What a day it has been!

This was a Local Store Tournament meaning that the it was a non-FFG kit tournament.(just for clarification)

We had 6 players (it was the stores first tournament as well), who took a variety of lists. I wish I could have gotten all the lists down but I was not able to get everything to post here. Instead I'm focusing on my experiences.

Round 1:

Opponents list:

IMPERIALS

100 points

PILOTS

Academy Pilot (12)

Backstabber (16)

Turr Phennir (26)
TIE Interceptor (25), Adrenaline Rush (1)

Captain Oicunn (46)
VT-49 Decimator (42), Intimidation (2), Anti-Pursuit Lasers (2)

My first game of the day had me facing off against the mighty Empire! We played the first match without asteroids, so that automatically opened the door for Captain Oicunn to make his way across the map to where my ships were headed. Of course it didn't help that I put Jake right between the mandibles of the Deci, AND within firing arc of Turr, which resulted in losing my A-wing on turn two (not a good move by me). Then it was a slow process of of killing off two straggling B-wings. I did manage to Crit both Turr and Backstabber (and eliminate the Decimator's shields), but my fire wasn't focused in any way, so I managed to to kill absolutely nothing.

Result: Imeprials loss: 0; My losses: 100.(points) Imperial flawless victory.

Game Two:

Opponents list:

REBELS

100 points

PILOTS

Han Solo (47)
YT-1300 (46), Millennium Falcon (1)

Luke Skywalker (28)

Biggs Darklighter (25)

Up next was was a not so fat Han, and his good companions, Luke and Biggs. The player behind this list was a fairly new one, but it was by no mean's a tiresome game. This time, I decided to focus fire a single ship, which happened to be Biggs (Since my opponent kept Luke and Han in pretty tight formation), and after using both Flechette torps and Proton torps, I was able bring him down by about turn three. Keyan died off very quickly this round, only managing to get it two or three attack roles before being totally destroyed. I managed to kill both X-wings for the cost of Jake and Keyan, and would have lost Nera to, but time ended on us. Han had 1 shield left and full hull, and I was on my last hull point with Nera. 3 asteroids provided some cover.

Result: Opponent losses: 53 My losses: 65, result : modified win for opponent.

Game Three:

Opponents list:

SCUM

100 points

PILOTS

Kavil (37)
Y-Wing (24), Ion Torpedoes (5), Autoblaster Turret (2), Unhinged Astromech (1), Swarm Tactics (2), Hull Upgrade (3)

Black Sun Soldier (17)
Z-95 Headhunter (13), Cluster Missiles (4)

Black Sun Soldier (13)

Guri (33)
StarViper (30), Calculation (1), Autothrusters (2)

The last game of the tournament, all 6 asteroids were in play. I set up both my B-wing's at one end of the table and my A wing in the middle of the map. My opponent set his Star viper and Y-wing at one end, and his Z-95's at the other. I sent my A-wing across the map after the Star viper as well, anticipating that it would easily get out of my B's arcs. During turn one I was able to take a shield off one of the Z-95's that strayed into my A-wings arc. Keyan was able to take the one shield and score two hull against Guri, and Nera scored two hits on the Y with the proton torps. Round two, Nera and Guri collided, and keyan whizzed out of firing arc around both of them. Jake got a nice line up on the Y-wing at range two, but only took out 1 shield. Meanwhile the Z-95's in an effort to get in on the action, took some risks. The one without torps that I fired a warning shot on flew through one asteroid and then landed on another, causing him to suffer two hits (from dice rolls.) The one with the cluster missiles Flew through an asteroid, but remained un-harmed. Round 4 saw everyone try to repostion, with the auto blaster turret finishing off Nera's shields, Keyan scoring two more hits on the Y, and jake range one blasting the crippled Z-95. in round 5, Nera went down, and keyan lost all of his shields. The Z-95 ended up out of position, and the Y wing began coming around for another auto blaster turret pass. The star viper was trying to get on keyan's tail as well, but he collided with the Z-95. Round 6 (the last round), saw Jake get out of position In a misjudged attempt to predict the star vipers movement, and Keyan 1 hard turning right into range one of the Starviper. Keyan blasted the Starviper to pieces, and the game was over.

Opponent losses : 46 My losses: 35 Result: Tie (since I didn't have the 13 point margin for it to be a modified win. If I had killed the Z with missiles, I would have got the win. Oh well :P )

Overall I had a fun time despite the recurring losses. I throughly enjoy flying A-wings and B-wings and I got another chance to take them out for a spin. I did not get a chance to go against the other two players list One I know was Bro-bots, the other was Scum boba, an M-3, and two Z-95's. Overall toureny results were:

(Win/Loss/Tie)

1st: Imperials(3/0/0)

2nd: Bro bots(2/1/0)

3rd: Y wing star viper Scum list(1/1/1)

4th: Firespray M-3 Scum list(1/1/1)

5th: Han/luke/biggs(1/2/0)

6th: BBA(0/2/1)

Overall my mistake for not focus firing in the first game cost me dearly. That and some build errors. Calculation is great, but not for a B-wing who revolves around getting stress and then removing it for modifying dice rolls, this leaves little room for taking Focus tokens! Also I didn't even use my Ion cannon (I would have against the bro-bots) but it still feels like it was a waste of points. Also auto thrusters is a fantastic card, but I was almost always within range 1 of my opponents with jake, so it felt like a waste as well.

However there are some positives. This was my first time taking push the limit on jake, and I absolutely loved it! the Free barrel roll or boost and then adding another boost or add an evade token really comes in handy. Nera with Deadeye and munitions failsafe becomes annoying at least, and can be very deadly.

Overall I enjoyed getting my feet wet in an X-wing tournament, and look forward to the Next one. I think I have also worked out the kinks for Nera and jake, at least. I am going to play around with some builds where I drop Keyan for some Generics, since having only 3 ships felt crippling when one of them was destroyed. Hopefully I will have my K-wing by the next tournament, and I can begin flying it.

Until next time, stay safe, and I don't know, Fly casual! ;)

Great report :)

Nice report!

Did you use some house rules to calculate wins/modifed/ties?

With standard rules, your 2nd game is a full win for your opp (12+ pts delta) and your 3rd is a mod. Win for you (tie occours only if pts are perfectly equal)

No we used FFG's standard tournament rules. I apparently misunderstood the modified wins then. Thanks for pointing that out! :)
