I still say that k wing is butt ugly.
Whenever I see the k-wing it always feels really off-balanced to me. From certain angles it looks great, but when its lower arms are visible, and more particularly when the landing feet are visible, it looks like to me a plane flying with its landing gears down.
The k-wing, and the punisher for that matter, both seem to suffer from 'moar stuff!' syndrome. I think I'm still upset that we got the punisher and not the gunboat/missileboat, but I get the need for a 'Tie' instead.
I see why they did it, now - it's not just so they could release a 'TIE only' upgrade, but because Wave 7 wasn't an ordnance fix, but a bomber fix - which is to say, 'ships that drop bombs'. That specific slot.
Missile boats are loaded with firepower, but they're not really known for their proximity mines.
I expect we'll see the Missile Boat or Gunboat in the future, though I doubt it'll be both of 'em. My personal vote is for the Gunboat, but that's purely on looks. I'll be happy either way.
I was luckily able to snag them at Gencon. I would say the generic Punisher is very "meh". It does what the TIE Bomber does but costs a lot more. I would save the points and go with a TIE Bomber every time. The named Punishers are a different story. Deathrain can change games. I've only played one game with him but my opponent did everything he could to stay away from him. I don't think I got to use his ability the whole game but the fact that my opponent was so afraid of him it forced him into bad positions.
Redline was an MVP for me the two times I have tried him. I just slapped AS, Prot Torps, Cluster Missiles, and Extra Munitions on him and he crushed everything in his way. I don't think this was the optimal build for him but he was still amazing. I think Concussion Missiles are a great addition as well. He gets Target Locked ordinance but rarely has a good way to also obtain a focus so the self-modifying ordinance works best.
All of the YV-666 at good other than having a model number thought up by a 12 year old trying to sound cool.
The K-Wings are all good in their own way with the dud being the 6 PS guy. Taking his focus just isn't worth the extra points IMO.
The more expensive generics stink as per usual. Paying more points to still have low PS just isn't a good bargain when those ships already need spare points for upgrades. Its fine when they come with EP upgrade slots but when don't add anything else its a waste.

I like when rebels start to whine about imperial fixes. *sips wine*
I haven't bought a new Rebel ship since Wave 5, or an Imperial ship since Wave 4. I don't see that changing in Wave 7, or Wave 8 for that matter. It's all about the Scum right now. In fact, in the next two waves the Kihraxz will probably be the only ship I buy multiples of.
K-wing, it doesn't have thr right Star Wars aesthetic and is down right butt ugly!!
Idk, it looks extremely Rebel to me

The K-Wing yells "kitbashing" to me. That is not inherently bad, since many of the Rebel ship models in the OT movies were precisely made that way, particularly the Falcon and the Nebulon-B Frigate.
But in my opinion sometimes it looks better than others.
The K-Wing is two B-Wing fuselages welded together where the cockpits should go, then add 3 X-Wing turbines, two Y-Wing cockpits welded together and to a Y-Wing "neck" welded to the main bulk, and two B-Wing s-Foils loaded with ordnance hanging below, with two little X-Wing "feet" at the tips. Sprinkled with more ordnance and turrets.
It looks derivative. It looks overkill.... It looks awesomely rebel. ![]()
I still prefer it to the hideous E-Wing, an example of kitbashin gone wrong.
The Punisher seems just like a slightly beefed-up Tie Bomber to me. A friend Imperial player pointed this out to me and I can't help but agree. I mean yes, the pilots are cool, but the ship itself is just too similar to a Tie B for me.
The K-Wing is the first small PWT, the special K is a Scum X-wing that you can take 5 of and the YV-666 has all sorts of new exciting gimmicks, while the Imperials get a slightly beefier Tie Bomber. Wierd.
Nebulon-B frigate is an authentic Imperial design. Perhaps those that were stolen by Rebels lost the purity of design...
Yes, the Punisher only interest is its unique pilots, that really can do things no other TIE Bomber (or Punisher) can do. The generics I would only take if I wanted to put 3 Shield Upgrades and 1 Engine Upgrade to a TIE Bomber and lose 1 agility and Barrel Roll, for extra 5 points. I don't see many situations where I would wish that.
The K-Wing, even the generic ones, can do stuff no other ship can currently do. The SLAM mobility and the ability to ion, kill or heavily damage higher PS pilots during the activation phase, while still SLAMming out of arc or doing some extra final trick with Advanced SLAM, then shooting range 3 out of firing arc... I have played a couple of games with it, and I am quite impressed.
The K-Wing looks awful.
The TIE Punisher seems pointless. Why not release an Aces repaint of the TIE Bomber with Deathrain and Redline as new pilots? There was really no need for a bombier TIE Bomber.
Played against deathrain this evening.
Extremely interesting and dangerous if equipped with mines more than missiles, obviously.
Cluster mines to be more exact.

But trust me, it isn't pointless at all.
It's a completely different ship.
Gives up one agility die and gets system upgrade slot, plus boost, and one bomb slot. And it's freaking good at dealing around some kicks in the ass if loaded with the correct ordnance.
I haven't played against the k-wing yet, but I think that it will be way different from the punisher.
/me curious.

Don't forget the system slot. Can't get Fire Control or Accuracy Corrector on the Bomber.
I've got no real interest in the Tie Punisher. I love the Tie Bomber and see it as just a fix for the Bomber. The K-wing has slam and will drop a bunch of bombs. The Scum ships are awesome. I've got no reason to ever fly the Tie Punisher, but I want the cards it comes with.
The bomber is great because the lost cost of running one. The punisher works when it goes uber-bomber mode.
My biggest gripe about the Special-K (apart from the lack of "wow" factor, but I can't blame it--it's low in cholesterol, after all!) is that the variant in the art of Lightning Reflexes looks so much cooler
not to say the Wave 7 model isn't beautiful (FFG really outdid themselves this wave), but goddamnit just look at that thing!
I have to agree with this sentiment.
Even still, the Khiraxz Fighter is actually the ship I'm looking forward to most. I'm a huge bounty hunter fan and Bossk used to be my favorite of the bunch, but I can't get over the sheer awesomeness of the Khiraxz Fighter.
I can't tell what the least competitive will be maybe kharaz fighter looks like an xwing with less upgrade potential but better point efficiency or maybe it will be the hounds tooth. I would of liked it better if the pup needed to be destroyed for margin of victory. One of those two are my guess.

Furthermore, HP+1 Agility is the kind of statline that needs its actions for defence a whole lot less, and can thus afford to spend them offensively.
Why hello there, mister ordnance carrier... ![]()
Standing tall upon three pegs (or the ******* wings just slap everything) the kwing has the resplendent beauty of a drunken albatross barely wobbling in the sunlight
It is simultaneously the most majestic and silly ship in the entire game
I'll take a squad of ks any day over the derpimator and its laughably stubby guns
the worst ship in Wave 7, as it is in every wave, is
the boat

The physical size of the K-Wing and Punisher is insane. Got to actually hold them at a tourney this weekend, and was blown away by how big they are.
They do look really nice, the detail on the larger ship models is great... but all in all the design is still grade-school level. For the sake of the topic, I'll say Punisher is the one I am least interested in.
