Archers as Infantry and Multiple Targets

By Bassoonist, in BattleLore

I had two questions about archers:

  1. If they are adjacent to an enemy unti, then do they roll like a melee character (i.e., hit when they roll a strike or cleave, rather than a pierce)? I was wondering because the subtitle on the card says "Infantry - Archer - Ranged." (emphasis added)
  2. When an archer unit has multiple attacks (e.g., Double Shot or Darken the Skies), can it change targets based on the results of the first attack? For example, if I eliminate one target, can I move on to a different one? Or is it supposed to happen simultaneously? So, instead of Yoeman Archers rolling two dice, they'd roll four if they didn't move during their Move Step.

Thank you for your opinions!

1. Infantry means that they are on their feet, walking through the battlefield (and all the rest); it has nothing to do with the type of attack, which is Ranged, both if they attack a far off hex or if they attack an adjacent hex

2. Indeed, an Archer unit entitled to attack more than once / round is allowed to change target (a Daqan unit ordered via Darken the Skies and able to trigger Double Shot will actually attack three times in the same round)

It may also be worth noting that because these count as separate attacks, things like damage reduction from buildings count for EACH of these attacks.
