GM screen

Im REALLY hoping for a V3 GM screen...any other GMs hoping for one?

Every GM hopes for a screen. It's kind of a status symbol and a clear sign for the players, that they are inferior to the god-like being behind that screen lengua.gif

Not really... The screen usually is to expensive, Most have a screen already. And the nature of the system also feels like a screen does not do more then hide GM story sheets, as the dice are more open ended. The, now, almost mandatory adventure that follows the screen are usually not very good either, and the cheat sheet on the back of the screen almost have 90% of the rules to be combat rules only.

But with the rule cards, thinner rulebook that is faster to look through and already existing screen(s) at home this one I wil pass if there are not some "golden egg" in there.

LOLOLOL wow thats awesome! *high five*

Not realy, as stated in some of the earlier threads, we are all very different when it comes to the use and conception of an RPG. I have made my own custom Screen made to make my GMing easier. And like KjetilKverndokken said; a produced GM screen will seldom hit target anyways.

So my advice is; don't buy a screen it it comes, try the game an slowly build up your own. A GM screen is a nice feature; it can create an atmosphere of mysticism and excitmement for the players when used correctly. Not to mention the status it gives the GM gui%C3%B1o.gif.

And after all I think Jay owes us a session demo video gran_risa.gif

thats a very good point! my DnD 4E screen has a lot on it and i use a bunch but some of it i never even look at so i like that idea.....ill prob do that *2 thumbs up*

I rarely use any stuff on a GM screen any more. I keep using my big 4-panel Paranoia 1st Ed GM screen (regardless of gam), so my players can sweat over the chance I'll roll on the damage chart and hit Vaporized. <muahaha>

mmm i love that aspect of GMing.....mmm make the players fear you

I haven't used any type of GM Screen for 15 years or more. As a GM I never hide my die rolls, but instead roll everything right out in the open for everyone to see. For reference tables I usually just create my own as most GM screens that I've seen aren't organized very well IMO.

I'm not sure if 3e will even need a GM screen with all the reference cards, but if they do release one I will likely only pick it up if it includes something extra like an adventure, new careers, etc.

In a word NO. I place very little value on GM screens. In my group we have a policy of open rolls (unless they have to be secret for some reason). so I have no need to hide behind a screen also like others I have found that many GM screens do not contain particularly useful information. In addition my group often plays in my living room rather than around a table so it's easy enough to hide my notes just by sitting in a single chair while the others take the sofas. However for those who are excited by the prospect of a GM screen, I'm sure one will become available.

very good point! it does depend on your GMing style....my guys enjoy the mystery of whats behind my screen and i never cheat on my role....i cant remember how many times i have fumbled a role in dnd for monsters.........lots...lol and the guys trust me....but we all play at a table so its best that i hide my stuff but very good point : )

No, I never use GM screens.
