The adventure in the GM Kit. Is it worth it?

By OddballE8, in Game Masters

Was contemplating buying the GM kit for the adventure mainly.

I usually don't use GM screens, but I could see how it would be handy as a sort of "flip-book" of tables, so I don't have to haul out the "big book 'o rules" every time I want to check a critical or something like that.

But it all depends on the adventure.

Is it good?

What kind of an adventure is it? (don't worry about spoilers, we're in the GM section after all)

All the GM kits are worth it for not only the screen but the adventure as well, plus each book also contains additional rules and advice.

Edge of the Empire: Talks about Nemesis and how to make an imposing nemesis and running them in an encounter.

Age of Rebellion: Discusses Squadron rules to buff your Rivals/Nemesis or the PC's. It certainly helps PC's survive more in starfighter combat.

Force and Destiny: Rules for crafting lightsabers.

I think the adventure is a good one too, I am planning to hack it up to use for my own story.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll probably order it when it's back in stock then.

I ran it, and it was quite amusing.

I really liked the EotE adventure. one of my favorites and easy to modify and run.

I ran it. It was a good intro adventure and I would recommend the screen. The system is simple enough that it's unlikely the info on the screen will go through an errata process.

I just ran it. It was a really good smug life kinda mission. I have a mix of PCs that include some jedi and some smugglers. I have to balance the game sessions so everyone enjoys a full Star Wars experience. That means grabbing hold of pre fab content for both force themed and smuggler/scum/villainy themed stories wherever possible.

This also had comedy and even better, felt like a bit of a suspense/thriller movie. It is also a good way for players to get some cash, unless they botch it.

Well, sounds like I'll definately have to look into it.

Sinc both Dangerous Covenants and Lords of Nal Hutta are on back-order at the company where I buy my stuff, I might as well toss in an order for the GM kit then.

I like the pacing of the adventure. Beginning reminds me of the marines showing up at the colony at the beginning of Aliens. And if done right, keeps the party on edge the entire time.

Right now, I am looking to adjust the adventure so that the party ends the adventure with the mine as a base/resource (Far Horizons) if they want it. Probably going to have to forgo or completely rewrite the intro to make that a possibility.

I liked playing it.

Ugh... it seems the only thing that's just not available anywhere, is the GM kit...

Amazon has it available as a Prime item right now.

Not super happy using Amazon since it increases the price for me by around 25% or so, with shipping and currency conversion...

assuming your in the UK/EU that is... forgot that part

Nope, I'm in Sweden.

And just to show how messed up stuff is here sometimes, the local games shop (that I still have to actually travel to, it's not THAT local) has the F&D Beginners box... but not the core rulebook...

Seriously... they didn't bother to buy the core rule book, but they bought the beginners box...

*sigh*
