So, about the gladiator...

By Viratin, in Star Wars: Armada

I look at this things stats, and I love it. It's a brawler, a real contender. There's a reason we've seen it do so well in lists. It's just a nice, well rounded ship.

Except for one small little detail...

It's ugly as heck!

That's a design that not even a mother could love!

It looks like a misshapen wedge of cardboard!

The thing is so aesthetically unappealing, it makes me want to vomit.

Sure, it's got a certain logical design behind it, and that makes my tactical brain all kinds of tingly. But the other half of my mind is beating itself against the inside of my skull in frustration, trying to imagine why this thing looks worse than my grandmother's window dressings and Michael Jordan's Hitler mustache.

When mine arrives in the mail, I'm gonna spend a good long while looking at it and trying to figure out a paint scheme that'll make it look passable to me.

I like it a lot.

I suggest lots of purple, and glitter. That way no one will question how badass it is.

How about clashing colors? Make it look like I'm colorblind and trying to paint it.

That's great. When people eyeball it funny just be like "I felt like color A, and color B would work really well together." And they'd be like "dude those are colors J, and X, are you colorblind?"

Then you can be all like eff....

Maybe I'll paint the Rebellion symbol on it and say it's trying to be camouflaged.

Who would even know? It's a good way to sneak those black dice up close.

ugly nothing

the GSD complements the bigger destroyers so well :)

it is the cheese wedge to their slices of pizza

lol yup

ugly. paint really helps. somethjing colorful

You could try something inspired by dazzle camo, used in WWI, to disguise the lines on a warship, and therefore also its class... Sixwood did a really nice decimator paintjob that looks a bit inspired by it...

You could effectively hide the weird front lines, which I'm guessing are what seem to ugly to your eye... It's what I was planning on doing if I ever make the jump from X-wing to armada :)

It's too big. Seriously i don't know why the **** thing eats up its base. They should have made it a bit smaller and then it would look more "natural".

Actually, I like it.

The A-10 is ugly too. I don't see a lot of things its hits arguing though. Seriously, it is the BEST ship in the game for everything it can do. I have yet to beat one. Ever.

It's not about how ugly it looks, it's about how you use it :D

I have three of them. I think they are cute. I've named them Fluttershy, Applejack and Rainbow Dash.

Oh, so we've got the deceptively vicious one, the workhorse, and the flying disaster.... yeah that actually works.

Back on track, yeah I wasn't a fan of the Gladiator either: until I put a few scars on it and dirtied it up some. Actually, I'm still not. I don't hate it, but it's still a weird looking ship to me too. There's a lot of near ninty-degree angles on it and the bridge is just as strange. I think there's something about its layout that reminds me a bit too much of some macross/gundam carrier than a star wars ship.

But if it didn't have two points how would you know I'm going to stab you with it at speed three?

The A-10 is the most beautiful plane you could ever see, especially when you are infantry! :D

I like it. A hell of a lot better than the AFII. That thing is ugly.

That tells so much. . . Is it bad I have painted one purple already?

I don't think so; but then again, my nation's first warship was the HMCS Rainbow and I was personally mulling over a dusty purple-hue for a Raider, so what would I know?

Swusn sorta has a point that the RAF is pretty ugly too. I'm not sure if it or the GSD would be the winner in that particular abeauty pageant, but as far as I'm concerned its a close call.

... at least the RAF has Curves.

That is the best darn idea I've heard so far. Though the ponies one had promise too. *shot*

And nopony questions how badass RD is.

I should paint an ISD in Maud colors.
