Anybody got any decent images to use for this weapon?
I'm trying to get visual representation of all the weapons in the game and so far, I'm doing allright.
If there's no "official" image, I'll try finding my own starwars-y looking weapons to put in (either real, replica or drawings), but I can't find anything that represents this weapon very well.
Here's a short bit of the description to get you going:
"the DR-45, also called the Dragoon, is marketed as an all-in-one weapon providing the portability of a blaster pistol with the range and stopping power of a blaster carbine. To accomplish this, the base weapon, which is a long-barreled blaster pistol, can be fitted with a detachable polycarbonate shoulder stock and a range-extending augmented spin barrel to turn it into a respectably effective blaster carbine. The stock and barrel are fixed to the base weapon with sturdy quick-release mounts that allow an experienced user to mount or dismount the attachments quickly and easily."

How about this gun for it:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PM-63_RAK
This blaster is awesome. 8 Damage, 1 Encumbrance, 3 Hardpoints, Accuracy 1--Amazing. It's a tad expensive, but still. It should definitely have been 2 encumbrance.
The other interesting thing is, subject to gm approval, it is elligible for a greater variety of mods than a carbine is.
The gun was based off of this series of pistol
Colt Hartford-London Third Model Dragoon Revolver with detachable shoulder stock, about 1854-1856. Caliber: .44 Serial number: 279
Blued and case colored steel, silver-plated brass, walnut grips (restored).
The Colt Dragoon pistol was introduced in 1848 and produced in three models. The weapons made for export bore serial numbers between 1 and 700. The parts were made in Hartford and then shipped to Britain for assembly and finish in Colt's London factory. This magnificent example is fully embellished in London factory engraving - a treatment found on only 20% of the Hartford-London Third Model revolvers. The Hartford-London Dragoon is one of the most desirable Colt firearms among collectors.
For the Dragoon, a much closer match is the one at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Stechkin_automatic_pistol
At least that one has a detachable stock which can be used as a stock, etc….
The Colt Dragoon was the first gun that popped in my mind as well. However, to give it a bit more of a Star Wars high-tech flavor and the ability to add attachments, I came up with this.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kel-Tec_PLR-16
Any of the AR-15 pistol variants could work, but the Kel-Tec just kind of screams "Star Wars Grungy" to me.
If that's a little too big, then we've already seen this next one on screen before.

The main problem here is that both me and one of my players are huge gun nuts.
We'd both recognize those weapons.
Hell, I've had to use limited-run air rifles and very rare early 1900's automatic pistols as the only real-life weapon images because of that.
So it'd have to be either
extremely
rare and unknown or a fictional weapon.

Kinda already using that one, but in this version:
Prefer it when magazines don't show, especially if they're just bog-standard stanag mags.

So, maybe make your own with PimpMyGun?
Actually, since I found a Kal Tec SU 16E that looked strikingly like a modular carbine version of the PLR 16, I decided to whip this up right quick
Now, my friend has seen the PLR 16 before, but he's always said "that looks just like a star wars blaster" so I think he'll be fine with this (as in, it won't take him out of the game by seeing a real-life weapon).
Feel free to use this as your own image of the Dragoon
I'll be using it for myself.
Here are some sites I've always liked to provide a bit of inspiration.
This was always a favorite of mine, lots of variety and some brands I'd never even heard of before.

Heck, here is the complete listing of every gun used in all of the movies. My character used to carry a DLT-19 until it got stolen. I still want that gun back...

Some nice pictures on the imfdb site there... I'll use those for the guns that have actual props in the movies.
This is a pretty obscure gun that might work too: http://world.guns.ru/smg/de/mp56-57-e.html

Not obscure enough for us, unfortunately
See what I'm dealing with here? hehehe.
there's a few early 1900's guns i have used though, and I'd highly recomend them to anyone wanting a star-warsy gun that looks real.
Just google "bergmann pistol" or "mannlicher pistol" and you'll get some really cool-looking pistols from the dawn of automatic pistols
(or just go to forgottenweapons.com and look at early pistols)

The problem I see here is that this weapon doesn’t have a stock, and is way too big to be Encumbrance 1.
How about this?

What are you talking about?
The DR-45 Dragoon is a blaster pistol with an attachable stock and barrel extention.
The weapon in my picture is a pistol with an attachable stock and barrel extention.
As for the Encumbrance, I think they just put arbitrary encumbrance numbers on the weapons... I mean the DH-17 and the E-11 are practically the same size, and yet one has encumbrance 1 and the other has encumbrance 4 (3 if you count it as a carbine, but it's listed as a rifle in-game).
I mean seriously, do these two guns look like they have an encumbrance difference of 3 points to you?
I take encumbrance with a grain of salt. Most of the time I would even go so far as to ignore it.

Correct. And, as written, Encumbrance 1 is the same as a Holdhout Blaster.
The weapon in my picture is a pistol with an attachable stock and barrel extention.
The picture you posted didn’t show any evidence of a detachable stock, a stock that could be used as a holster, or any evidence of a detachable barrel extension. And it certainly didn’t look to me like it would qualify as being as small as a Holdout Blaster.
Did I miss something?

And if you read the writeup at http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Star_Wars#BlasTech_DH-17_Blaster_Pistol then you will note that they are both based on the Sterling SMG.
So, yeah — that’s a little weird.

Fair enough, I just didn’t think that what you posted looked that much like what is described in the Dragoon writeup — no detachable stock, no detachable barrel, and considerably larger than a Holdout Blaster.

Hmm. That looks a little like a Westar-35.

Hmm...I'd consider what I posted to be more obscure than some of those pistols, but hey, you never know what people have heard of. I learned just recently that there were grenade launcher and sound suppressor attachments for the M1-Carbine in WWII--something I've never seen in a book.

It's actually a blaster of my own design loosely based on RoboCop's Auto9.

For taking pistol weapons and converting them to SMGs, I really like the pictures that Mouthymerc posted in his article at https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/130955-stay-on-target-dr-45-dragoon/page-3#entry1453495

I don’t know that I had heard about the sound suppressor for the M1, but it would certainly make sense. There certainly were other uses of suppressors at the time.
The grenade launcher for the M1, now that I knew about — and had read about in a book. You had to fire a special blank cartridge in order to launch the grenade, otherwise the rifle bullet would shoot through the charge and might cause the device to explode instead of being launched.

Yeah they were neat. Actually seen them being used on a show called Strike Back . Probably elsewhere too, but I can't recall until I see them again.
