If FFG makes episode 7 ships this is gonna change a lot of game play just look at the new tie upgrades.

New title and base tokens that give an aux arc and a crew slot?
A turret is certainly possible, but just from a physics point of view it wouldn't make much sense. Those weapons can rotate 360, sure, but what if they turn sideways? A small base with an Aux arc would be sick.
"Your upgrade bar gains a <crew> icon. If you equip a <crew> upgrade, you may perform primary attacks against ships in your auxiliary firing arc."
That would be cool...
I like the auxiliary arc, but it would look like the new TIE would be a separate ship from the old one, as not having a printed rear arc on the old bases will present a problem.
Easiest way would be to implement a title with turret+crew. Determining cost will be important, but idk how I feel about adding expensive upgrades on such a brittle ship.
looks like a whole new ship. the model is totally different.
my guess is basic TIE with shields (the thick pats of stabilizers are generators) a crew slot and auxiliary fire arc
crew upgrade = spotter: if attacker is in your aux arc then you can change a blank result to an evade result when defending (2 points)
I've wanted an aux arc on a small ship for so long. Back when Rebel Aces was announced I hoped they would give A-Wings a title or mod to give them an aux arc (since some A-Wings are modified to let the lasers rotate 180 degrees). Not that I'm unhappy with the boosts A-Wings got, but that arc would be amazing.
More on point with the new TIE, now that FFG is trying new designs (PWT on a small base, 180 degree firing arcs) I would not be surprised at all if there's an aux arc.
I know a turret would seem weird, but look at the K-Wing. There is no way that thing can shoot a target with the top turret directly behind it, and the way the bottom ball turret is attached it doesn't seem like it can traverse a full 360 degrees. However, with space being 3 dimensional combat, you just have to imagine the ship pitching slightly to catch a ship behind it. Same thing would hold true in the NewTIE. Roll slightly and boom! Turret to the side.
Still, aux arcs are a lot of fun. Definitely looking forward to the new stuff.
I doubt it will come with our first ep 7 announcements, but I'm interested in that really thin shuttle type ship from the trailer.
We will probably see a new XWing verson announced for the toy day with a new xwing title cards! My guess.
If you look at the pic of the tie at the top of that article that's taken from the film, that tie doesn't have the underbelly turret or the shoulder mounted turret. It's possible that the turreted version is similar to a Tie Advance in the fact that it's not the most common variant but rather currently a prototype?

Yups... SEPT 4th is prolly when we will see the new goodies too; being STAR WARS TOY DAY and all.

Chris said the FFG timeline is coinciding with other toy companies like Hasbro, so this is locked down already.

If you read the back cover for the expansion books it clearly states that THIS PRODUCT IS NOT A TOY.
I'm just messing, but thought it was funny. Can't wait to hear what they have waiting for us!

Fine scale game models sounds like something for adults... and boring professional business peoples.

You can't have a Firespray style rear arc on a small base ship, the stat line gets in the way on the small ship tokens. The narrowest you can get is 160 degrees, at that point it might as well be 180, not that I'd mind.

It is quite likely we hear what it is next week at D23. Then it is released on Force Friday.

Yeah that can happen too I bet.
