The seating is limited to 24 spots. * It is actually 60 spaces. The Armada national is 24 spaces.*

Regionals go to 30 to 40 players and Nationals hit 50 to 60 players or more easy.

$65 for the Saturday day pass plus $20 mailing fee + whatever the tournament fee is.

That is 1/3 the required capacity at triple the reasonable cost. This is a "pay for the title" experience.

At least they're now offering pre-register. My understanding was previously that it was going to be first come first serve. The limit of 24 seats is ridiculous. FFG, take note and DO NOT give out a National to this venue again. I've had some really bad experiences with Canadian tourneys, and the handling of their nationals is reason enough for me to never support another one.

The regional I attended last year advertised a cap of like 48, but as it got closer, and they didn't have enough people preregistered, they dropped it to 28. And it turns out that if you accepted one of their two FB events, they automatically preregistered you. So go figure, only 22 or so people showed up to the actual event. Where they accepted a 1st round bye even though the guy didn't have the certificate because his friends saw him win it.

Then the nationals last year was run really well and I can't say anything negative about the setup of it... I just went 1-5 and don't want to talk about it. My first two losses were against top 8 players, so fine... And the last two losses may have had something to do with the alcohol that was on site that I was consuming since I didn't care anymore. Still, 1-5 is embarrassing.

And now this... A freaking nationals level competition that is capped at less than half of what our largest STORE championship brought in. I'm not going to touch on the "cost" aspect of it because the US nationals has the same associated costs... But at least you're part of an experience at the US nationals - where else can you play in a 200 player tourney? 24 players? We get more than that on random Friday night OP kits...

I was just reading the page and it said 60 seats...I'm not sure where 24 is coming from ?

edit: I see 24 for Armada

Maybe LFL mandated it be at a high profile locale on Force Friday weekend. HIGHLY UNLIKELY but ...

Aim it Hamilton's way in Ontario, and I'll definitely attend.

But yeah...that price for getting into an X-Wing event seems a tad on the steep side. Seeing as that'd be the only reason I would go to FanExpo.
