IG88 deploy and designation questions!

By madquest8, in Imperial Assault Campaign

Hi, can anyone help with the following?

1. Can Techological superiority (a class card which gives benefits to Imperial Droids) affect IG88. Does he count as an Imperial Droid when being used by the Imp player in Campaign mode?

2. If you 'win' IG88 as a Villain and thus you can now deploy him, does he count as an extra card or does he have to be one of your open group choices? (reducing the number of other cards you could pick by one).

Thanks for any help! :)

2) he would still have to be picked as one of your Open Group choices.

1) He should be used considered an Imperial figure even though he is technically a filthy Merc. There should be a rule in the core rulebook that specifies this cause when I had him I did the same thing where he was a friendly fig and considered an Imp.

2) Must be taken as an Open Group choice, which always makes me second guess if doing specific missions for Villains is a waste of Influence.

to follow up on 1)

When something refers to an imperial figure, does that include scum figures?

When something refers to an imperial activation, does that mean any activation done by the imperial player or any activation of an imperial figure (not scum)?

I am pretty sure that there is something in the rules that state all the Imperial player's miniatures count as Imperial during the campaign.

Pg 13 RRG "Imperial Figures"

During a campaign, all figures belonging to the Imperial player are Imperial figures. This includes all Deployment cards with an Imperial icon or Mercenary icon.

This answers your second question as well. Imperial player.

Thanks for the answers! :)

Don't forget IG-88 is a unique deplyoment which means if your rebels kill him you can not re-deploy again. Risk verse rewards. Only bad when you have a small amount of deployment slots.

Really? I was unaware of this rule. Can you clarify where in the rules it states this?

Okay, thanks. I've just checked the rules and you're right.

I just want to add a clarification, that the limit on re-deployment is for that mission only.

You can still deploy the unique villain again in future missions, with the same "1 death" restriction applying.

When an ally is defeated, it is removed from the map and

cannot be redeployed for the remainder of the mission. The

ally may be used in future missions following normal rules.

Scum deployment really matters most in Skirmish as far as I can tell. You need the temp alliance card to mix them with Rebs or Imps. In campaign, Scum count as Imp figures and the only issue comes up when a mission specificly says the Imp player cannot uses Scum figures.
