I landed on an obstacle and my opponent landed a crit or ability that reduced my speed to zero. Do I keep suffering the results after the movement of the ship until I change my speed?
Speed 0 and Obstacles
Yes, each time you execute a speed 0 manoeuvre and end on the obstacle.
RRG, Page 11, Ship Movement, last bullet point for reference.
Well, engines going dead in an asteroid field would be a bad thing....
So reading this made me think I might be doing something wrong.
When a collision happens, I thought that the speed change was only "temporary", ie, for that maneuver, and that the speed dial itself did not change; just that that particularly maneuver was resolved at speed - 1.
Reading this thread leads me to believe that you actually change your speed on the dial, and it stays that way until you get a navigate command to build it back up again.
Can someone clarify?
Hrm, I just re-read the thread and realized it wasn't a collission that caused your speed reduction to 0, but a critical effect.
Nevertheless, my question still stands.
Nope. With overlaps, you "temporarily" reduce speed as needed until the overlap/collision does not occur, even if it means reducing it all the way to Speed 0. It is, indeed, only temporarily though, so your way is correct.
p8 RRG, OVERLAPPING will clarify everything for you.
