Combat Skills in non-Combat checks

By Jereru, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Hi,

First of all, I still don't own the CRB, so I am using the Beta version.

Now, to the point: Some talents, like Strategic Form, make you use a Combat Skill (Lightsaber, in this case) to get a specific result in a way which it seems is not considered a Combat Check, since Combat Checks are defined as being the use of a Combat Skill to attack someone (and I am certainly not attacking anyone when using Strategic Form).

Now I wonder, if I use Strategic Form, how do I get to spend my Advantages and Triumphs? The description of the Lightsaber skill doesn't help, since it was a skill designed to attack people. Table 6-2: Spending [Advantages] and [Triumphs] in Combat is under the Combat Checks paragraph, so is out of the question also (though notice it says "in Combat", and not "in Combat Checks").

So, my possibilities:

a) Consider all Combat Skill usages (including Strategic Form and similar talents) as Combat Checks, and therefore use Table 6-2.

b) Consider Strategic Form (and similar talents) a non-Combat Check, but allow some options described on Table 6.2 (probably the ones not requiring am enemy target).

c) Consider Strategic Form (and similar talents) a non-Combat Check, so don't allow Table 6.2. If this is the correct option, and since the Lightsaber skill doesn't have examples of Advantage use, in which would you allow them to be used?

Notice that being considered a Combat Check or not is important due to the existence of Supreme Parry and Supreme Reflect.

Thank you in advance.

Your choice I'd say, but it wouldn't be outrageous to add some setback dice on any enemies affected by the talent, not all of course (unless you roll a silly amount of advantages), but adding a defence to yourself (3 advantages) could work too, or something else that's fun, use the creativity and what makes sense. A Triumph could upgrade one target's next action (or specifically attack against you), if multiple Triumphs perhaps all are affected, or perhaps something funky unrelated happens - some minions flee after your display of UCT-prowess!

Thank you for your suggestions :)
