All Mighty Jabba

By ZoraTheHutt, in X-Wing

While I was messing around in squad builder, building Epic Raider builds, I tried to incorporate the Emperor into every list and then it got me thinking, now that the scum have a multi crew ship, which happens to have 3 in this case, does this pave the way for a Jabba crew that costs 3 points? Given that scum gets an Epic ship eventually, this would most likely be the only way to acquire Lord Jabba. I don't want to speculate about his ability, because I can't even begin to think what madness a card that takes up 3 slots would bring to the table.

I did this one (it is very powerful, so could cost even more):

That's... pretty neat, actually. The question is why that particular ability?

Hm. Nick from our shiny new Agent Kallus - the most memorable aspect of Jabba's doings in the original trilogy was that bounty on Han, after all...

Jabba the Hutt

(2 crew, 7pts)

At the start of the first round, choose 1 enemy small or large ship. When attacking that ship, all friendly ships may change a [focus] to a [hit] result.

Because everyone wants that bounty, see? :D

Ooh, fluffy

I would make it all ships, instead of all friendly ships. Gives it more utility in a multi-player game and names it more thematic. An imperial agent is directing imperial forces to go after a specific target, Jabba is just encouraging "everyone" to go after that target.

Isn't that ability significantly worse than agent kallus's though?

Cause... when Mighty Jabba grunts; "s--t s'posed to happin!"

Dats why. You better kill... DAT one!!!

This is a cool and a fair home-brew, and it reflects the character right on. I like it plenty.

Kallus affects his ship, this Jabba would affect EVERY friendly ship on the board. Significantly better.

Way too powerful for only 7 points.

While this is a great card, I'm looking for something with a 3 crew cost and would you think it's possible

Possible? Sure. Needed? Eh. Two slots is already a massive price in terms of flexibility, and cuts out every single-crew ship (Of which Scum has many) from taking it. Triple-slot is technically possible, but I think it's overkill for what works out to mostly be the same effect.

Regarding it being overpowered: I made the price up on the spot. It may well be worthwhile being more, but he's already going to be at Palpatine-level "Kill him first", and it's not like he can even buff his own defences... so if I'm off, it'll be by a couple points at worst. :)

Or you can slap a range restriction on him, but Jabba seems the sort whose influence (read: Credits) works from afar...

I kinda pictured him having something like a Xizor/Biggs effect.

This ship may not be targeted by enemy attacks if the enemy ship has any other available target,

Jabba either bribed them or they just want a high value target alive :P

Right! That's what I was forgetting. It felt like I was missing something, just couldn't see what.

I feel like Jabba would be huge ship only. I don't see him squeezing his bulk onto a fighter lol

How about: At the start of the game any pancake or donut on the board is immediately consumed by Jabba.

It might be neat if Jabba had a bribery feature that forced one of your opponent's ships to either fire at one of his squad mates, or not to fire at Jabba's ship at all.

You got it, and you could incorporate a stress factor in there somewhere too.

I hate to take from Heroclix of all places, but what about, to represent the bribery:

At the start of the combat phase, select an enemy ship in range 1-3. That ship may not declare the ship Jabba is attached to as the target of an attack this round. This ability may not be used if the target ship is the only active ship in the opponents squadron.

STAW is good if you just use your head-piece and fix the mistakes. One of the better mechanics they use is Disabling items. That is how ordnance should work in X-WING too. These little ships carry more than two or three missiles after all.

An effective weapon to counter two-ship builds... but one that encourages you to have as many points in the ship he's flying in to start with. AKA a two-ship build. :)

I do love that we're all looking at it from a bounty/bribery angle, though.
