In Kotor II HK-47 claims to have been able to kneecap someone from 120 km away with a trilight scope. Which is insane, it's a freaking crazy distance. He's a specialist droid though, I'm not sure I would allow a player to try that unless they fulfilled a crazy amount of requirements.

Hmm...

So if on an earth-sized planet, he would have to be at an altitude of more than 1km to even be able to see that far in the first place, due to the curvature of the earth. (at 1 km, the horizon is 112,8 km away)
That said, there are planets with much larger sizes, giving them a much "flatter" curvature.

Still, he'd have to be at a pretty decent altitude to make a shot at 120km in the first place, using a "scope" of any kind.

Plus that's a whole lot of apparently absolutely nothing blocking line of sight.....

Maybe HK just shot at someone on a spacewalk from a space ship ?

That too.

But then, I'd imagine that if he's at 1km+ altitude, he'd be on a mountain or something similar, firing down towards the sea-level ground. Potentially even firing above whole cities without them interfering with his line of sight.

Also very possible.
