When flying a Tie Fighter Focus or Evade?

Well, you can't get Howlrunner + 7 APs, you can only get Howl + 6 APs (she's +6 points over an Academy, and you've got 4 points to spare with 8 Academies).

Howl swarms will be focused more on formation flying with at least some of the ships. Full swarms of 8 TIEs basically don't care about their formation at all. If you're good at flying this, and can still bring all their guns to bear against key targets, that's awesome, but it's more difficult than a more tightly regimented, offensively powerful swarm with Howl's re-rolls.

Take Night Beast and do both.

I haven't flown a Howlrunner swarm in a while because she seems to tie your ships down to formations, which are bad when over half of your engagements are going to be chasing fat turrets through asteroids.

7 Ship swarms seem to just lose 2 of their ships right off the bat, and since 5 TIE Fighters can't take out a fat tie you've lost right then. Maybe that 8th ship will allow you to stave off that autolose situation.

Focus, unless I don't have a shot but am in someone's arc.

Apparently, I can't count.

Happens to everyone.
