The Cloacking Device might end up being even better than Chewy is for the Rebel HWK. I am also excited about the TLT. That will have a few applications. Looks like the Ghost is shipping with a new turret as well.

As has been stated, Twin Laser Turret looks like a pretty solid candidate to make rebel HWKs more viable. In fact I just finished up a vassal game with 3 HWKS and 2 Bandits against IG-B/Boba. Didn't win, but it was a very competitive match. Think if we played multiple games, the scoreboard would be pretty even.

I know a Cloaked Named HWK pilot with a turret will be better than a Spice Runner, but it is still an improvement to the HWK as a ship not just certain named pilots.
Edited by Black ArrowThematically, I'd prefer the HWK to appear in an aces pack with more of a dark paint job, and have a title that says "Raven's Claw", even though the Raven's Claw was a slightly different ship. I'm not certain such a thing is "Needed", but I think it'd be cool.
I'm perfectly ok with "Cool, but unnecessary" things showing up in this game. I play the game for fun primarily, so just because the meta doesn't need something or some other class of ship I don't care.
Could the HWK get some love? Sure. Does it need it? I don't think so. Roark is a BEAST should not be left alone to often. I have him at 25 points(ion turret, Numb in shotgun) in a list and he can help tear it up. Shooting at 12 is huge locally, as alot of the meta is about getting the best PS. 12 makes sure you pop your shot before they drop you. I don't know if more turrets will come out, but each time it does help both the HWK and Y. IF you can fly the brick you can really do some work out there.
I've been playing against a couple of Jan Ors squads and both can be quite lethal in the 2 ship meta.
One keeps Jan cheap: autoblaster turret + Nien Numb and pairs it with 3 FCS Bwings. A 5 die TL+F from a B-wing brings massive pain to any ship
The other one goes expensive: ICT+VI+EU+ Nien Numb paired with Fat Han. Whisper will be ionized and melt under Jan while Han does his thing

Jan Ors can be a monster, and is poised to do very well in Wave 7.
As noted elsewhere, you can pair Jan and Miranda Doni to give Miranda a six-die Homing Missile attack. Jan with TLT/Doni with two Homing Missiles comes to 67 points, which is plenty for a third strong supporting player and some additional upgrades.

Seriously, Palob and Mux are ******* monsters (and, apparently, we had some crazy bastard win a regional with something like 3 ion spice runners...hopefully someone can find that thread)
It's disappointing that the rebel pilots don't seem nearly as powerful (well, Jan could be but good god that asking price), but scum definitely learned from their mistakes

The only thing I'd fix is indeed the attack value of 1. **** might as well be 0, it's just that pathetic. A standard attack of 2 would have it stepping on the Y's toes, but that's before BTL-A4 (not to mention the imo superior 8 health + 1 agility versus 5 health + 2 agility...stupid green dice)

Also I would like to se FFG put out a Mission book or Campaign style book.
The raider has a Campaign mission booklet with like 12 missions in it. I could see the HWK being specialized as a great mission runner. It is never going to be a staple of 100 point tournament lists, but it could really be fun in scenarios were it is allowed to shine.

I've been pondering Jan + Prockets for a while now... which would be better, 6 dice all at once (from an A-Wing) or 7 dice over two rolls with Cluster Missiles (4+3 dice)? I guess it would depend on your target's agility.
I keep thinking it would be entertaining to run Jan + Bandit swarm w/ Cluster Missiles or + Proto Pilot swarm w/ Prockets but in either case it would be extremely unlikely she would survive long enough to see all the munitions shot off.
since Jan's ability only procs once (then stressed), it's more efficient to pour it onto one big, incredibly modified attack than a lot of crappy ones

If you look at the Ghost's preview in Wave 8 there's 2 cards that appear to be Turret Slot upgrades. It most likely reads "Dorsal Turret" it might be the Turret Scum HWK's are looking for.
I have yet to actually play a scum HWK, or even against one for that matter. My intentions lean more to the Rebel side of things.

I always felt it was priced ok for a support ship, but at the 100 pt level it's hard to have a purely support craft. Everybody needs to fight and the HWK just can't unless you spend another 5-10 points on it.
I always wanted to see a special HWK only turret, something like "Fixed Blaster". Arc only attack, three dice, maybe 1-2 points. This puts it into the realm of being a rebel version of the shuttle, just cheaper and with a lot less life. You lose the turrets goodness but gain a ship that can at least defend itself while providing the necessary support to your other ships. And now you're not breaking the bank on a ship that will probably be the first to die.
That sounds like that upgrade will make the HWK into an Wave 8 Assault Shuttle. We don't know what the dial on that thing is like yet but it seems to be a 3 attack HWK so far.
