Sorry if it's been asked before, but has it been explained why the expansion comes with 7 shield tokens, since the ship stats indicate 4?

Notice that it comes with a sizable stack of stress tokens also. I think this relates to the "overc...arg..." upgrade. Overcharged what is the question? Maybe it is a action-triggered shield generation upgrade that causes stress.
EDIT: Overchanged Argomech. Makes sense and seems to fit the spacing of the card text. The ship has the slot. I'm positive that's it. Now, what does it do? Hoping for shield for stress trade.

I'd guess that card, Overcharged Astromech maybe?, or the Gonk droid. Maybe it even lets you exceed your shield value. That could certainly be powerful, even if it's only temporary like if it goes away at the end of the round.

Yeah, that makes sense. Gain a shield and a stress token, this can exceed your starting shield value. Remove it at the end of the round if you took no damage.

Illicit shield regen option that can go above shield value probably. Probably has a chance to fail and damage the ship.
lets hope its temporary (and I don't mean the way shields normally are)
if this thing can bring the pogostick to up to 3 more permanent shields (7 in preview, 4 on card) it's either going to be ruinously clogged with drawbacks or it'll break the game

Yeah that will be fun. But the dial was described a asymmetrical which may make it predictable. Still an amazing maneuver, especially for large ship.

That's just asking for a sombrero repaint. 
WIthout any extra shields or defensive options it will be rather soft for a large ship. 9 in total hits and 2 in evade.
