For those who are too lazy its basically screed, 2 gladiator 1s with ACM and engine techs and the rest of the points is rhymer, vader, and tie bombers.

I'm very determined to somehow prove that squadron lists can contend with all ship lists. My battle plan is to pretty much get the rhymer ball into the middle of the board and lure enemy ships into it as they will try to focus my two small ships to get victory.

A crazy idea, what do you guys think?

I don't like the gladiators they can get killed pretty quickly. I prefer one victory and then 1 or 2 gladiators. The victory can just survive so much longer

Sorry I don't like just gladiators by them selves

I am with you in proving that a Bomber list can hold its ground. :)

Did you manage to play this list already?

I tend to agree with Chris RR that a GSD is a bit frail for a carrier.

On the other hand you got a great damage output!

Wonder if you got the points for yet another bomber. 286 seems a very large initiative bid.

As Chris RR and florianhess stated, Glads are not the best carrier. They can fulfill the role, but cant get some of the goodies that carriers generally want (such as expanded hangers). They also are somewhat frail, which will cause some issues I believe.

May be best to try and drop 1 Glad for a VSD (put screed on the VSD) as it can take more of a beating and makes for a better carrier. May have to drop a few bombers for this. I had a bomber list that used a GSD and a VSD, I was only able to fit in 3 regular bombers, rhymer, and 2 regular advance, after both ships and upgrades.

Personally I think that bomber lists will realler shine once we get to 400 pts and can also get that ISD (man that thing is going to be a beast of a carrier), Depending on points I was thinking of trying to make a list of ISD x1, GSD x1, maybe 1-2 raiders, then bombers and other support fighters, but cannot be sure what I will be able to fit in until we get point values for everything

Hangar that ship up to 78, then toss in skreed for 104 (same as the GSD in the list). Done und done.

Don't forget to use Demolisher to help out on rounds when you know you're not going to smack the enemy

Actually I the bombers were going to act independently without ship support. I think I physically dont have the model for another bomber lol.

Did a play test and sadly the opponent had a fighter based carrier list and I got slaughtered

chance of enemy squadrons is why I far prefer Advance (esp with FC)

Just play the same list again against a different opponent.

Practise, practise, practise. :)

However, I would recommend swapping the intel officer on the non-flagship for Wulff to allow more freedom with your command dials.

Additionally, i am personally not sure Contested Outpost is the right pick. Would't Fleet Ambush work better for you with two GSDs?

On a different note and to ad to the constructive discussion about VDS or no VDS, here are two lists i am playing/testing!

My main list, about 6-7 games under its belt:

Total: 291

The list is solid so far, but does require flying skillz to not get outmanoeuvred by 3-4 activation lists and make the most out of the bombers. Naturally you want to set up the attacks of Corrupter by taking down all the shields on the hull zone you are about to attack.

Have found that 4 bombers is the sweet spot to make the most of a squad command without 'wasting' points in bombers that just stand around or play chase. Ignore the Tie Adv when squad commanding, they are just protection/tar pits ^_^

Chiraneau and the two Tie Advs proofed enough to hold the ground against regular fighter screens. Played Mauler for a while which is really fun with Chiraneau.

Corrupter does help a little with REB bomber lists, but is not essential and can be cut if i would just know for what, hehe

Against a Rebel heavy meta i would retool the VSD to a Type-II with Motti, XI7 Turbolasers and Warlord. *taking out ACM & EA

One big and still unsolved question is if it is better to play Motti to help with survivability? *basically the anti-Reb outfit.

On the drawing board i have this lined up next:

Total: 296

Only 4 points initiative bid is not much, but should mostly allow for choosing 1st or 2nd.

I have found that forcing your opponent into one of the bomber objectives or Fleet Ambush does help.

Think that it's better to have some chance of reacting rather then going first and then have 2-3 ships of him take you apart in one go.

Right, the 2 ship list got me a 1-2 on Saturday's 9 player tournament.

The Rhymer ball itself was great all day but the 2 activations just lacked the answers to too many common lists.

Will put it to rest and practise the VGG list for the next tournament. :)
