New to the game, need help choosing Chiraneau list

By Silver9, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hello. I'm fairly new to the game, but I'd like to play in an upcoming event. So, I'd like to build a list that is not too difficult to handle as I will not be able to get many practice games. It seems to me that decimator is a nice ship to start with as turret is rather forgiving.

At the moment, I've come up with two lists, and I need some help in assessing them.

List 1 (100 pts)

Rear admiral Chiraneau + Veteran Instincts + Engine Upgrade + Mara Jade + Ysanne Isard (58)

Howlrunner (18)

Academy pilot (12)

Academy pilot (12)

List 2 (100 pts)

Rear admiral Chiraneau + Expose + Experimental Interface + Mara Jade + Ysanne Isard (60)

Avenger squadron pilot (20)

Avenger squadron pilot (20)

I don't have imperial shuttle at the moment, so no access to rebel captive.

I do own a tie phantom, but I think I'll not be able to practice moving it as much as I need to really get it.

Could you provide opinion on these lists?

Thanks in advance.

Do you have Imperial Aces and Autothrusters?

No, sadly

List us what You have.

Expose RAC is pretty solid build, but you are stressed all the time, so easy to block.

And feel free to drop ms jade, shes not top notch in this build.

Also interceptors without PTL are just...meh. They can't dodge correctly, they can't build defensive tokens corectly.

I experimented with 2x interceptor and deci build some time ago came up with something like this:

Saber Squadron /w PtL x2

Kenkirk /w Predator and Ysanne or RAC /w Determination and Ysanne.

But that requires Imperial Aces.

I wouldn't get too hardcore into Turretwing lists if you're a new player, when you play non-turrets your flying abilities may be crippled.

I've had some decent success with a Patrol Leader, Gunner, Vader, and 4x Obsidian Squadron TIE Fighters, although I have a bad habit of vadering too much. A Patrol Leader and 5x Academy Pilot would be a decent first list to fly. Gives you a turret to play around with that's a little forgiving and 5 TIE Fighters to get the hang of flying regular ships and blocking and predicting opponents.

What I have:

2 starters

everything from wave 1 and 2

extra tie interceptor

extra tie defender

tantive

e-wing

tie phantom

rebel aces

yt-2400

vt-49

I was thinking that Mara should provide me with some means of countering a phantom. Is she really unnecessary?

Also, why is turrent more difficult than fighters? At least it shoots 360 degrees, so it's harder to dodge it.

Cause turrets are 50+ points ships that work like shot magnet.

In case of rebel Fathan / Fatchewie build yes they are easier, as you got plenty ways to mitigate damage and list is very forgiving even if enemy manages to punch u a salvo could be avoided.

Less case in SuperDash cause you can dodge arcs nice, but if they catch you ,Dash will drop.

Deci on the other hand, has almost no defensive mechanism, other than EU and Ysanne. So it needs superb flying, use of asteroids and dodgeing arcs.

Phantom IMO will not care about mara at all. He can just green all day long and position itself with decloak.
