Scariest Wave 7 Pilot?

By Kdubb, in X-Wing

Been putting some thought into what the scariest wave 7 pilot is, and I believe it has to be...

What say ye? Deathrain is pretty sweet too, but he's not quite as rage inducing to your opponent as the SLAMing, shield regening Miranda Doni in my opinion.

Well, you can't SLAM and shield regen on the same turn, but she's still going to be pesky.

Bossk and Cobra's my kind of dudes; they chuck a lot of dice and deal a lot of damage. Woot!

All three YV-666 pilots IMO.

I think Moral Eval with his mandatory HLC, is going to be a serious contender, especially if he just slow rolls.

CobRA is going to be a serious threat I think in a variety of builds

YV with an ept...Bossk.

Warden Squadron is the real threat. He is probably one of the cheapest and most effective ace-hunters in the game with a 35-ish point loadout. He can also block better than a prototype and takes just gobs of damage to bring down.

Although I haven't tested yet, I believe Deathrain is a strong candidate.

With what kind of loadout?

Connor Net, extra munitions, advanced slam and any other bomb or missile you want. For a Fel/decimator this ship will be a nightmare on par with or worse than a stresshog.

My vote is deathrain. I'm getting really good with Emmon. Deathrain just makes it even easier.

Ya sorry I should have worded my post a bit differently. While they aren't done in the same turn, the choice of SLAMing out of a close arc, or shooting and regaining a shield when you are in a good position is really crippling to the opponent late game.

After one evening with a gencon K-wing, Miranda is ker-razy. Doni and a twin laser is almost unfair.

Miranda only does everything.

Arc dodge (slam), Turret, Regenerate, Joust (with missiles), bomb...

Still working on builds for the K. Played a Warden with a pair of Awings and was shocked by how well it kept up. Those SLAM maneuvers are great for flanking or escaping trouble. Doni should be interesting even just for the piloting skill in that thing.

props on Tastetherainbow for shouting out the Warden, but shame on Tastetherainbow for not mentioning int agent :P

errr. well. most of them are okay.

I don't think theyre that scary. not like the 3 dic epunishing one. or han. or chirpy. or soontir.

Deathrain (or specifically, the Conner Net) is going to MURDER Soontir. Or at least pin him in place so the rest of the squad can finish him.

Deathrain conner basically counters every two ship in every two ship builds that isn't a PWT (because of course) since those are all terribly action/positioning dependent

problem is whether or not he'll last against unavoidable PWTs <_<

Warden Squadron is more or less the exact same thing, just less easy and more Int Agent shenanigans of awesome

Not looking forward to another regen ship in the game. I've been very vocal on here, but I'll say it again, I think regen, at least in it's current form, is not good for the game.

no worries about regen

it's on a sh*tty B-wing that actively sacrifices firepower in order to max out at the same damage cancel potential (2) as fat han (except fat han isn't a sh*tty B-wing)

Miranda can't even use her ability with SLAM

you have clearly not seen a TLT Miranda on vassal.

Each turn she picks whether she's an arcdodging bomber (with SLAM), Regenerating harrier (with TLT and her regen ability) or a PWT (with her ability to become 3 die primary)

that's nice and all, but she very clearly has limits and trade-offs

she has no action efficiency (apart from A-slam --> can't attack), a hard cap of PS 8, has to hurt herself to get to 3 dice PWT (which is strictly worse than han or cheri because of self damage and lack of built-in mods of any sort, not to mention action-independent ones), and has built in limitations (no shields? no spending shields to buff attack dice. SLAM? no attack. No attack? No regen)

to top it all off, she starts out expensive and only gets moreso. Even just going "fat," Mirana + TLT + c3po (because r2-d2 only triggers in the end phase, so not terribly useful if you're looking to regen off her ability) is already 38 points.

if you can deal with any of the current meta threats, you can deal with miranda. She has some of their durability, far less of their punch, and a very neutered version of their maneuverability

Talonbane with Glitterstim. Other upgrades to taste, though with his PS I would seriously consider Engine upgrade.

Talonbane for the lulz. Glitterstim+predator+EU is pretty nasty.

I think most of the pilots are pretty good, especially the top PS ones for each ship, and Deathrain. Latts and Esege are great support pieces, Morelo's ability is solid. Graz is a bit naff though.
