Math Problem - Falcon with Luke, or Predator/Gunner?

By Red42, in X-Wing

Trying to wrap my head around this but my brain isn't up to the math tonight.

I'm trying to work out the comparitive damage output from two different Falcon loadouts. As the title says, one with Luke crew (and nothing else to modify the rolls), and one with Predator and Gunner.

I figure the latter is more effective overall, but I'd be interested to know how much difference there is. Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Here's the breakdown:

Luke Crew: First attack deals average of 1.5 damage with no other modifiers. If that doesn't hit, Luke will deal an average of 2.08 damage on the following attack (again, with no other modifiers).

Predator + Gunner: If attacking an opponent of 3 or more PS, you have an expectation of 1.93 damage on the first attack, and 1.93 on the second attack.

You, sir, are a scholar and a gentleman.

Witch ever one you take you will wish you had the other.

Most of the time gunner+Predator is the best But it will always come down to if you can afford

That's closer than I actually thought.

The reason for the dilemma is that I usually run Chewie with Predator and Gunner. The problem is, I'm struggling to beat dual Aggressor lists and thought maybe if I VI Chewie to ps 7 and took Luke crew I would be able to do almost as much damage and be able to move after the IGs which would make a huge difference.

Pred plus Luke is really good if you can afford it. :P

But then I couldn't take VI which is the whole point in the first place. ;)

I didn't see your previous post when I responded.

Why not use Chewie to block the other IG while you shoot? Everyone goes on to block one and what-not. Though you may have tried that already.

Predator adds .438 avg damage, Luke adds .578 avg damage.

So, while luke is better on the one shot, Predator can also be used on the first shot making it overall better.

Predator also has synergy with a focus token whereas luke doesn't.
