First Scum Epic Ship, GR75?

By Wretch, in X-Wing

I was watching a YouTube video about the changes made in the special edition movies and saw something interesting at Mos Eisley, a GR75.

Here is a link to the video it's at about the 6 minute mark.

Would you be disappointed if this was the first Scum Epic Ship? I think it would be interesting as a ship that debuffs the opposition versus buff friendlies like the Rebel GR75.

It's been discussed before, but ultimately FFG has two well-liked EU options for Huge ships and isn't likely to get any more from the new movies.

Unrelated, the Rebel GR75 is perfectly capable of making its enemies' lives a hellish gauntlet of misery from which there is no escape.

I would not be a fan of a scum version. Plenty of other ships that I'd rather see in that role.

Only if it was a free cardboard dial, insert, and cards, and was packaged with the Wild Karrde!

I think I would rather see an Action VI for scum. It's a bit bigger than a GR-75, but I really don't want to keep copying ships from other factions. Plus, don't forget that as far as upgrades go, cargo is cargo and hardpoints are hardpoints, so it would be difficult to define a scum huge ship as a debuffer compared to a rebel huge ship as a buffer. Plus the options in the rebel transport let it be either one pretty easily.

Adding a "smuggled cargo" upgrade slot or just huge ship only illicit upgrades might be a way to go, however.

I certainly wouldn't have any problems with S&V getting a repainted GR-75 with different upgrade cards.

It's fair enough to say that no faction should end up being a carbon copy of another faction in different colours. Sometimes though, people seem to take that approach to almost religious fanatical depths, even when having a ship be dual faction would actually be both fluffy and beneficial. I mean, has dual faction Y-Wings, Firesprays and HWKs really been that bad?

I'd buy it - even better if it meant it would be released in half the time!

I think some would argue that the Firesprays shouldn't have been Imperial to begin with.

I thought the first Scum epic ship was 4 IG88s, combined together to form a Voltron of pain, death, and double-firing HLCs.

I have made a a Scum & Villainy conversion kit (the first half) for the GR-75 with some help from gabe69velasquez as he made this card.

I have 3 titles so far and printed an overlay of the base along with one of the titles that gives it a firing are (also with a base overlay) and a hardpoint. I am working on the other two (another one for the firing arc overlay) and possibly cleaning up the first 3 so that they can look better. Check the link in my sig for the kit.

I kind of like Crabok's idea of having a GR75 ship token and ship card (with 2 Illicit slots) included in an Avtion VI, or preferably a Crusader-class gunship. But just a repainted GR75 would suck, I already have one, I don't want another just to use it as scum.

The first title gives it an extra 2 illicit slots for a total of 3 illicit slots. (Can you imagine 3 deadmans switches with this thing?)

The second title is more of a fix because the scum only crew cards are not compatible with a weaponless huge ship. So this allows the Scum and Villainy to "borrow" a crew card from one of the other factions using a title from a slaver's ship on wookiepedia. So just think put Leia in the metal bikini and run 4 IG-88s with the title.

The 3rd one gives it a hardpoint and a firing arc. I made a base by copying the aggressor firing arc and put in over the front arc. That way you can have sort of like a rag-tag capital gunship in your epic games to fight with the other big ships. Won't do as well but since it is cheaper you could take 2 of them for 100 of the 300 points.

Anyways this is not supposed to be permanent, just something to hold over until FFG makes a proper S&V huge ship which is probably over a year away. I am working on 2 more titles, one to give it more weaponry so it can be a better armed ship instead of a support ship and another support title.

I think that's actually a GR-45. So, no need to worry about cross faction ship duplication!

The picture is the special edition GR-45. Fluff wise and in the screen you can see it is smaller than a GR-75.

However for simplicity sake and to make something that easily fits in the current epic standings I kept the GR-75 ship card and stat line. The titles is what was designed to make it a S&V ship and as different from the Rebel Transport much like the Scumhawk is different from the Rebel HWK-290. Even as far as giving it a firing arc and a hard point so it can use the range 4 and 5 hardpoint weapons that the Rebels and Imperials have.

I think a Crusader would be better then a GR-75 or maybe a Marauder. While I don't mind factions having some ships in common I think a faction's first epic ship shouldn't be one that was already released for another faction.

I am confident that FFG will make 2 Huge ships for S&V so they could have those nice center pieces in Epic. Since the other two factions will or already have 2 epic ships, there will likely be 2 huge ships for scum. The only thing is that it is quite some time before we can get our hands as FFG hasn't made a proper S&V huge ship. So the kit I made is more of a filler for Scum to have a Huge ship in play while we wait for FFG to announce, spoil, and release a Scum and Villainy epic expansion pack. However that is at least a year away.

No to more cross over ships, well ok if we got some cards and the other bits to use our existing GR75 with a actual scum epic release.

Id love to see the Marauder but it is getting a little big but **** that thing looks cool.

So does this mean we could just use our1/450 scale GR75 model as a 1/270 scale GR45 model!?! I see repaints in my future!!!

I could see it, especially if ffg released a weapon upgrade that took two cargo slots. That would make the GR75 a mobile gun platform.

Slicer tool is already a form of weapon, so we have some precedence for weaponized GR75s.

I think scum would benefit from an ion wave generator [Action: Spend one energy for each ion token you assign to enemy ships within range 2-3, you may assign more than one token per ship].

Well as GR-45 with the same x-wing stat line as the GR-75 model I guess. But yes it is supposed to allow you to play using a Galofree Transport with your Scum ships in Epic, while having a touch of Scum to the ship with the illicit and Scum Only titles. Gabe has played a game using the GR-75 as a scum ship with an illicit upgrade. It would be kind of hard to tell as the Y-wings anZ-95 ships look like a rebel list if it were not for the yellow firing arcs and pilot skill 7.

As for repaints well as I mentioned once FFG releases a Huge Ship epic expansion pack for Scum then this kit is supposed to just well be discontinued as there is no longer a need for it with that gap being officially filled. But to be honest the exterior hulls of the Transport were white to help them be camouflaged on hoth. Why not paint them Brown or Green or any other color to help camouflage them on other planets. However I do remember the Vader's Revenge in Rouge Leader and the transports were also white there too.
