According to the Upcoming page, the Imperial Raider is shipping now

By Danthrax, in X-Wing

The difference is like 40% of msrp

Where are you getting 40% off MSRP?

Depending on local sales tax, I'll use TN and an online store thats 70% of retail

100 Raider is 109.25 at a store in TN vs 70 online

39 dollar difference, thats quite a bit, paying 64% online of what i would pay at a store (assuming you order enough to get free shipping)

What happens when your local store goes out of business and you have nowhere to play?

You build a new store. And you make it legendary.

You start a game club and play at other venues.

My only issue with online vs FLGS arguement, is that some places do not deserve your business. Having a place to play is great, but that shouldn't be the only reason why you spend money at the place. I buy a good half of my X-wing stuff, and all of my LCG stuff, at my local store, because they have earned it over the years I have gone there.

Dunno... actually invite people to your house? Use a public room at the library?

For what it's worth, you are supposed to pay the sales/use tax with your annual tax return if the retailer doesn't collect it at the point of sale. Not many people do, and it's nearly impossible for the state to afford to audit everyone to see how much online purchasing they did (why the states have made such a big deal about trying to get Amazon to collect sales tax), but ostensibly you're paying $76.48 for that online purchase.

I support a FLGS too, CSI. It only happens to be a few states away. So much debate on this topic. Pros and cons to both. Basically, community building vs. monetary savings. Ask your FLGS to price match ;)

Back to topic though, do we think online retailers will ship early so they will be at your doorstep the day they are released at FLGS. I have seen it before. But I doubt it'll happen.

If a place doesn't deserve your business because they're not friendly, then they don't earn that 'F' in the acronym, and therefore that argument in the 'online vs. FLGS' debate is moot.

So, shipping, that means it'll be here in Europe in tiny supplies by Christmas right?

From what my FLGS owner told me, the EU distributors get a direct shipment of stock on new releases which in some cases actually arrives with them before the US receive theirs. During the US port troubles, the EU distributors were sitting on stock until they got the OK from FFG to start shipping.

I'm pretty certain we should be getting our new toys soon enough :)

Just FYI, CoolStuffInc has updated the Imperial Raider's release date to August 11.
