While I could totally see a ground based version of X-Wing being introduced someday... I have to admit that I hope they don't. We already have Imperial Assault, and essentially it would be a duplicate of that game, at a different scale to allow for AT-ATs. Now I'm sure people would like to own a really nicely modeled AT-AT from FFG, especially one that they could PLAY a game with, but at the moment my budget gets strteched thinner and thinner every time FFG announces a new game, so I'm kinda hoping that they don't do this.

But if they did.... I'd kinda hope it runs as a companion game to X-Wing. Make it use the same rules, and have it be interchangable with X-Wing, but just offer a different setting. Cloud cars, Snowspeeders, and AT-ATs are basically the three vehicles that haven't been introduced in an FFG Miniatures game yet, so I'd expect them to be the starter. But I don't think you'd really have enough content to warrant multiple waves of expansions for such a game. If you made it an option starter that is fully intergatable with X-Wing however, then you have more options.

Basically make it a new game type for X-Wing. You already have STANDARD play, and EPIC play, introduce GROUND play. You can STILL fly your X-Wings on a GROUND battle. Falcon too! But now there are new stationary turrets, and AT-ATs, AT-STs, and other things. Ground vehicles might have a new upgrade type or two, which allow them to make some special ground vehicles upgrade cards that can't go on space vehicles. And you wouldn't ever have to worry about someone bringing an AT-AT into an X-Wing tournament, because they coudl only use them in GROUND games, just like you can only use a TANTIVE IV in EPIC play. I could totally see that happening some day. Plus FFG could make new game matts. They coudl a snow matt and a jungle matt! Might be fun!

Are you advocating FFG not making a game mode for Xwing based on monetary reasons! Shame on you! You're inner irresponsible child is offended at your current responsible adult!

And I love the idea of making it a separate game mode like Epic! It would kind of have to be anyway. A stand alone expansion for Xwing that introduces Ground Play and comes with the Battle of Hoth. An ATAT and 2 Rebel snow speeders. A kind of reversal of the Xwing starter(2 Rebels instead of 2 Imperials) and then add Rebel Hoth troopers, snow troopers, and Rebel ground turrets as the rest of the wave. Next wave, Stormtroopers and the Rebel Troopers from ANH, a Rebel heavy tank, and an Imperial Turret. The third wave, Tauntaun squads, speeder bikes, ATST, and a Rebel light tank. It could go on and on!
