Star Wars Rebels in Imperial Assault?

By kowagaru, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

So at Gencon, FFG spoiled wave 8 of the X-wing game which included the Ghost, Phantom, the Inquisitor's Tie Advance Prototype, and all the crew members from the TV series. Seeing as these characters aren't too far off in the time line, only 5 years before A New Hope, and in a different part of the galaxy do you think we might see something incorporated from the series in Imperial Assault such as characters or locations? Possibly a prequel campaign that has you joining the start of the rebellion and interacting with the crew of the Ghost?

Let me know what you guys think. We could have units for Kanan, Ezra, Sebine, Zeb, Chopper, Hera, The Inquisitor, and possibly even Asoka Tano.

As far as I see it, timelines 1 and 2 are pre OT.

I've just started IA so maybe I don't understand the nuances of community language - but I'm pretty sure the base campaign occurs after Yavin, so that would make it OT, not pre OT

Like I said - I might be misunderstanding

Once they are done with the movie characters, seems likely.

The IA core campaign is in Timeline 3 and occurs immediately after A New Hope. There is speculation that Return to Hoth will be Timeline 4. Timeline 2 would likely be between the prequels and OT and who knows what they planned for 1.

Vader is available in TP 1. It's post Episode III.

Chewie, specifically the mission The Spice Job, is available in TP 2; which would put TP 2 around 5 BBY, the same time frame as the Rebels series.

Assuming that the TP designations are aligned with the timeline of the movie universe, and not a standard applied solely to the game to control which villains and allies can show up at a particular point in the compaign.

A Rebels big box expansion would be amazing. Though I've got a feeling they'll keep trucking through ROTJ before we see that. In any case that'll mean Rebels will have more content for them to put in the box by the time they get around to it. ;)

I could see that happening, but for IA, I'm actually more a fan of new characters with the occasional OT hero thrown in for good measure. Don't forget, Imperial Assault has clearly made room for MULTIPLE version of each hero to appear. This means we can see Dagobah Luke show up, and Jedi Luke also show up. We can see General Solo, Commando Leia, and for the Imperials we might see Captain Piett, and then eventually Admiral Piett, etc. I'm not sure how they might do an upgraded version of Vader exactly... but I'm CERTAINLY down for a slightly new version especially if it's a new pose - perhaps a Vader who is more about using the force - maybe with high lightsaber turned off.

Anyhow, because of this I doubt we'll see Rebels for awhile. I'd really like to see a Jedi Luke. Would be a fun mini to own.

You make a good point. The stories their telling are focused around FFG original characters, who I am in love with. I want to see these characters show up in comics or something!

That in mind, a Rebels themed expansion could focus on a different Rebel cell made of original characters, and the the characters from Rebels would fill the same role that Luke, Han, and the other Allies fill in the current campaign.

Yeah, given what we've seen so far I think it's very likely next year we see a Bespin small box starring Lando, followed by a Jabba's Palace big box starring The Rancor and Jedi Luke, then finally an Endor/Death Star II small box starring General Solo and The Emperor the following summer. (With Zuckuss, 4-LOM and Bossk sprinkled in wherever, since we seem to be getting one ESB bounty hunter alongside each boxed expansion.) Then, in two years, we might finally see Rebels content... but my guess is they'll do something based on The Force Awakens first. (Though they might actually squeeze that in before the RotJ stuff... strike while the iron is hot, and all.)

I think you've nailed it ;)

The rumor is Rebels is going to run for four seasons, so we have a bit of time before we see anything bases off of that content if they choose to do it. The Longer they wait the more options they have for it.

Based on time periods a new Vader is unlikely. Also I have a feeling that they'd rather introduce new imperial OC's than use Piett (note that Vader is the only named cannon imperial so far).

There is some Rebels artwork in the Star Wars Force and Destiny Core Rulebook. So yeah I think we gonna see them....

This means we can see Dagobah Luke show up, and Jedi Luke also show up.

If all goes as I hope we may even see an episode 7 Darth Luke!

If they do it similarly as they did in the LOTR LCG, the main games will not touch on the movies/shows but run parallel. They could release what they call in LOTR LCG "Saga Expansions" which would cover the direct story of a movie or a season of the show. But they only started doing that late in the 2nd year for the LOTR LCG, so you gotta be patient :)

[...] do you think we might see something incorporated from the series in Imperial Assault such as characters or locations?

I think it's extremely likely we'll see a line of Rebels tie-in products for IA.

Now, exactly when that's gonna happen... is probably a substantial ways off. Unlikely to be in the next six months. Twelve, maybe. 2 years, totally.

Unless an asteroid creams us in the meantime.

Edit: Wait, when did "announcements" become "spoilers"?

I think it's like a spoiler when they hold stuff back. They aren't giving you all the info, just a look at what is coming out. But I guess you're right in it being for of an announcement. A lot of stuff is probably still in development.

Ugh, I hope we don't get a Rebels expansion... I don't want to see a bunch of kids and teenagers fighting Darth Vader and Royal Guards etc...

"I don't like the things you like, so I don't want you to have them either!"

(FYI, it doesn't matter to me either way, but the "kid" in rebels is the same age as those two. The show is just set a few years before the OT).

Like Luke & Leia?

He's younger (in the rebels time period) than they are in ANH, that's where his problem starts. Pedantry aside, while I enjoy Rebels, I think there are several reasons not to include them:

a) Kaidan might as well be Diala (at least thematically).

b) They are very much a team; it would seem wrong not to release them in the same wave and if they do that it's five (six with chopper) rebels in one wave.

Like I said, I don't really care either way. I don't see a reason to have an expansion based on the rebels show as it wouldn't add much thematically to what is already there, but who knows.

I was only pointing out the flaw in that "kids and teenagers" taking on Vader statement. I do understand patrickmahan's sentiment.

Are you telling me that Star Wars Dennis the Menace and Boba Fett girl here are 19 years old?
