Broken ?

By AppleFresh, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

I dont play Descent often. I played last night though. I was on full tilt after. I wanted opinions.

We played the seige of skytower in the heirs of blood book. Starting a campaign

Myself and two friends were the heroes.

We pull off a victory. Not defeating the lieutenant. It was not a clean victory but we did WIN.

After WINNING we were awarded with a decent amount of gold. Something like 150 I think. Which is a good amount I realize.

The overlord after LOSING GETS 2 FREAKING RELICS ?

Its the beginning of a campaign. We barely have anything. The 150 gold we have will barely help that.

Like I said. I do not play often. Am I wrong in thinking that is broken ?

Thanks :)

I have not had the chance to play Heirs of Blood yet. That being said, I don't think you can make any claim about this particular quest being broken or not until the repercussions of those relics are observed through the rest of the campaign. If those two relics end up being the hammer and nails he uses to bury your party in overwhelming defeat, then perhaps it is. If not, the quest is probably fine. Also, don't forget that you walked away with a fair amount of gold, too.

Also, remember that only lieutenants can equip relics. And only one per lieutenant per encounter/quest.

So the OL got the relics, but maybe cant use them often in the following quests.

Is just an opinion, I didn't play heirs yet. I hope in a couple of weeks my group starts this campaign.

As an advice, since this campaign uses the core relics, I truly believe that your party must focus on get the "Staff of Light" and then "the shadow rune", because they are the best relics to heroes on the core set (my opinion).

Isn't a 'heroic' stuff, but my group chooses the next quest according to the rewards we can get... <_<

I have almost played through the entire Heirs of Blood campaign last weekend with a few friends (still two act 2 quests and finale left) and so far the OL won all but 1 quest.

I must say that although the OL did win most quests, every quest was a close call and came across quite balanced.

And about the relics thing, atm the OL has about 5 relics and still doesn`t come across as too powerfull.

Although i must say that we used the rumor cards from the Manor of Ravens expansion and did the Wrong Man for the Job quest, in which the OL had The Shield of Zorek`s Favor relic, that did kinda break the quest for the heroes.

They either killed themselves trying to get the luitenant down or died ignoring him. (The OL mostly rolled 3 or 4 on the attribute test so yea :P )

I think in heirs the relics are mostly there to buff the lieutenants (Eliza and Meric are not the most robust of terrifying foes, lets be honest here) as they are more constantly involved (being a narrative campaign in which the Farrows star).
