I have been watching some of the Gencon videos regarding A game of Thrones and I am tempted to pre order it however how many starter sets should I buy?
One or two starter sets?
To get a playset of 3 of all cards you need 3 Core sets. Most of the cards in the core set are only 1x while a handful are given as 2x.
Ahh, thank you. Thats a big dent in the bank account.
It isn't cheap, but it is so much cheaper than chasing down Magic the Gathering cards to build a competitive deck.
Hell, right now the three cores is cheaper than buying into any of the other LCGs that FFG puts out.
Not cheap , but cheaper .
Oh don't remind me of the old decent magic days. Well one place here in the UK has the release date as the 31/08, however we all know how release dates and outside influences can change that.
I'm buying two cores right now. That gives me two of everything and three of some which is more than enough to lean the factions and cards and find what works with my play style. Once I have a better idea of what and how i'll be playing I can by a faction set or two from Team Covenant.
The shop in Gothenburg where I reserved my core sets said last week of August which they interpret as early September.
I'll be getting 2 for starters, if I feel the need for a 3rd one later, I can get it, but for now 2 is enough.
Three will definitely be worth the investment, but I think you can get a ton of versatility with only 2
I'm in for 2 as well. After I get a better idea of what I like then I might go for a 3rd one IF the cards I need are many, otherwise I'll buy the few ones I want individually (as long as the prices for those are good). Somehow though, I get the feeling that I will enjoy all the factions and grab that 3rd.
Unrelated, the argument that it's cheaper than MtG is getting very tired. "OH WOW IT'S CERTAINLY NOT WORSE THAN HITLER SO STOP YOUR WHINING." Stop comparing it to the worst possible example.

Fine. I will. $120 up front breaks down to $0.18 per card, and while there's a bit of diminishing returns with the extra copies of the Faction Cards, Title cards, Varys, Littlefinger, etc., it gives you much more flexibility in deckbuilding and is a tremendously good value.
I agree we shouldn't compare it to Magic, because what $120 gets you in Magic doesn't even bear mentioning. It ain't the same ballpark, it ain't the same league, it ain't even the same sport.
I've been going through what I picked up at Gen Con and I couldn't be more pleased.
And going forward, it's just
$15 per month.
I picked up 2 Cores at Gen Con. 2 lets you play with duplicates and having a better chance at drawing key cards. I'll get 3 if I end up playing the game a lot.
Hello guys!
Sorry for the "bad ad not nice" question.. but... if I buy 2 Cores, there will be enough cards for create some proxy?
I did this, years ago, with 2 cores of Lord of the Rings LCG (for have 3x of every card) and I would like to do the same with GoT... but I don't think that I will have enough "extra cards" for the back side.

Godwin law on pag 1? Unexpected
3 cores for me, I often tried 2x with LCGs, but in the end I always ordered the third copy, so...
