I Have You Now (Epic Scenario)

By Viceroy Bolda, in X-Wing

How the scenario is played:

There are unlimited epic points for each player. You do not need epic ships to play.

If you have a CR90: you will field 200 points and set up at the main table on an oversize star map.
If you do not have a CR90: you will field 100 points and set up on a 1v1 table with a standard star map. Any player may field GR75s.
All tables will begin play about the same time. 1v1 players will pause their game once one of the two players is down to his/her last ship. At that moment, both 1v1 players move their ships to join the battle at the main table at the next planning phase. In theory, 1v1 players will trickle onto the main table, acting as reinforcements.

Teams are based on faction association. All factions may play CR90 and GR75 ships.

Teams should be equally balanced for two factions, three factions can have imbalanced teams, temporary alliances are permitted. ;)

Victory conditions: the last team standing wins.

This scenario allows for 1000 point games that flow quickly. It has been tested and shown to work.

How many players and tables have you tried this with?

This was fun!!! I believe we had 14 players when I was there! IIRC, four started at the main table and we had four, maybe five 1v1 tables.

This appeared to be able to work for any number of players, just make the main table size as needed!

I'd like to throw a game together for tomorrow at LBW. 6:00 start time.

What's your ruling on allowing Vader crew on an imperial CR90 that can trigger him on the main turret shot, then after each hardpoint shot?

In the past, we ruled "No uniques on epics." Nobody gets them, not even Rebels.

The game's rules actually do cover this! Vader doesn't specify a section, so the opponent chooses which section. This means that Vader can only be triggered once before he starts eating hull as the back has only three shields. Having used Vader on a CR90, he seems fairly well balanced. Wouldn't be surprised if the postRaider FAQ makes him large and small ship only, but he's not broken.

Also wouldn't be surprised if the FAQ rules that Huge Ships aren't affected by support effects. The supporting Roark or Jan was slightly odd, but an almost autoinclude escort Jonus next to a Raider's pushes it into silliness.

When the Raider comes out will you change it so you can have uniques on Epics?

We also coordinated it so each Unique was also used only on their own side and only once! So Vader would have to be used on the Imp side only once, either as pilot or as crew!

Needless to say Vader was flying a Tie Adv that day!

Sounds pretty fun. I'd probably wait until the Raider is in more people's hands to give it a go.

Also I'm busy tomorrow night. ;)

I wont be able to make it either, but we'll have to keep in touch and plan some big Epic games after the Raider is out! I plan on getting one for sure!

Remember, I have the ffg Cr90 and GR75, but I also have a cR90 in imp colors, the DP20, the Customs Corvette, and soon to be Action Transport. We are not at a shortage of Imp ships, as long as we can agree on some stats.

Cool! I havent seen your custom ships in person yet! Will we be in need of more Rebs then? When we come down, we'll have a CR90 and GR75 as well. I have also been contemplating getting a second transport...

The Action transport were used by all three factions. The DP20 was used by Imps and Rebels for sure.

The DP20 stats are tricky. As a front line ship, it should be much more powerful than the FFG CR90, but we don't want it to be broken.

The Customs Corvette will probably use CR90-ish figures.

The Action Transport will be the Imp version of the GR75.
