Hell even the HWK looks nice after your editing.

But the starviper. Man the starviper is precious. @_@

Hello Arma.

Thanks for the Comments.

The Hwk is generally a good shape, it just looks a little awkward with just the engines hanging out the back.

Giving it a wing area evens out the weighty look of the model.

And for me.

Gives it more of a bird like appearance.

And I like using the Hwk on table top.....so it deserves that extra something.

As for the Star Viper,

It was actually relatively easy to do.

Other than two little bits of plastic tabs on the back of the wing joining the body.

All of the parts are from the same model.

Each piece cut and shaped.

And glued using plastic weld.

I'm actually thinking of doing a step by step tutorial on how to make it.

As most people with basic model making skills could make it.

Would be fun to do.

All the best.

Barry.

I will post the Finished photos soon.

Barry :D

One of the things I miss about Games Workshop games is the huge array of really incredible conversions that were out there. Because of the game and IP, there isn't the same sort of opportunity in X-wing. So your work really hits deep with me. It's great to see some truly great model work with this game.

Thank you Bio,

I know what you mean. but at least now you can enter Models that have been modified into Tournaments.

Although one of the local shop x wing groups will still only allow repaints, and not conversions.

I tend to play among-st Friends, and they don't mind what I do to the models as long as they know what it is.

half the fun of this game is getting my hands on a miniature.......and seeing how i can customise it :D

Thanks again and all the best,

Barry.

Finished the Ywing.

given a simple camo finish and also re-painted one of my custom Z95's as an Escort.

this Ywing only has a Modified main body so that the model is still obvious as to what it is.

My other Ywings, are not allowed to be used as they are not recognizable for tournament store games.

Custom Star Viper with with reshaped wing area.

no extra parts in this model, all of the wings were removed.

and then each one cut and glued with plastic weld to resemble something more

wing like out of all of the parts.

had some fun building this one, and it wasn't difficult to do and most people with general model making skills

could easily make it.

I may purchase another Star Viper. and do a little tutorial on how to make it. :)

Custom Hwk 290.

made to look something between an FT-8 Star Guard from old republic.

and a Klingon Bird Of Prey.

Also wanted it to look grubby and scruffy.

after all, it is flying piece of junk for the scum faction :D

Another Hwk 290.

Wanted something more bird like with this model.

the wing pieces attached to the main body are the wing stabilizers from the Firespray !

the Engines help make up the wing area along with the horizontal engine parts used

as the wing tips.

although the Hwk has 360" fire ark and has the main cannon slung underneath.

I didn't want to put anything on the model so as not to ruin the look of it.

so for this one, I can say it has its weapons hidden underneath with a hatch type door.

weapon drops down for use. kind of like the small laser cannon on the Falcon.

That's all of the new Custom builds for now.

working on the Firespray at the moment and looking at the Jumpmaster to see how I can change that Ugly looking thing

into something different.

Thanks for Looking,

All the best,

Barry. :D

I have to say again, that starviper is a thing of pure beauty. It will be cool to see what you do with the JM5K!

Thanks Gersun.

Yea the Jumpmaster is sat on my bench......next to my razor saw !

i'm looking at changing the cockpit completely, new engine nacelles a transport pod in the gap in fuselage and extending each side with some sort of wing area.

and paint it in a similar colour to my YT2400.

FIRESPRAY Re-build The Glaive

A while ago I striped down a Firespray and wasn't sure what I was going to do with it.

I wanted to do a custom build, but perhaps aimed more at something an Inquisitor would use

and have the model built to be used for my Imperial fleet.

It was going to be A slave one Re-build and look something that Bobba took to a Hot Rod shop !

but the Original inspiration for the weird look of the wings came from one of my Favorite Films.

KRULL

A great 80's Sci-fi / Fantasy film (And a Fantastic sound track by the Legend James Horner) with a the main character using an unusual weapon.

A five bladed throwing star, known as the GLAIVE.

krullposter_zpsign77p0n.jpg

I stripped the Model of its wing Stabilizers ( now on the Hwk 290 model ) and weapons

and made some card Wings to see what it would look like.....

11_zpsnbhswmzl.jpg

Edited by Barry Harker

I slowly prized the model apart so I could get into the internal structure to support the new wing.

and remove anything that would get in the way.

I'm also going to be building full scratch built engines, and so won't need the engine compartment that

is on the back of the model.......would be a shame to cover up all of that detail.

so that will be removed.

And saved for a future build.....into the bits box for that piece.

Bobba%20Hot%20Rod%201_zps4xfje05z.jpg

The card mock-up wings were used to draw out the new wings onto plastic ABS card, and measured to make sure everything is

symmetrical......

Bobba%20Hot%20Rod%202_zps0xve96i7.jpg

I then rough cut the wings out on my Band saw ready for fine sanding.....

Bobba%20Hot%20Rod%203_zpsummbn8x8.jpg

Some may think the wings look to large,

well I wanted something that would look more Maneuverable in Atmospheric flight and a bit more imposing.

the main wings would still rotate 90 degrees for landing. and the Lower wing would move up to a vertical position.

The carapace around the body will be heavily altered and extended with large air ducts for the new air breathing engines.

here you can see the new piece sitting in front of the carapace......

Wings tacked in place to see how it will look....

Lots of Bodywork to be done now, new cockpit, Engines, Carapace, weapons and then a new paint scheme.

ill keep posting more photos as I build.

All the best,

Barry :D

Building a new Engine area on the back of the model.

and it helps to have lots of parts to Kit-bash from ;)

Air Intakes "nacals" on the side for the new Air breathing engines. made and re-shaped

from 1/48 Me-109 under-wing cannon pod's.

Loving the rebuild of the engine area, but I'm not sure about the Bat-wings.

Hey Rick,

Yes I can imagine the Weird looking "Bat Wings" wont be to everyone's taste.

The Ship was going to be a New Bobba Slave one Re-build.

But with the original inspiration for those weird wing shapes coming from the film KRULL,

And being a Scum Ship,

Some pilots will do odd things with there Bounty pay off's.

And I don't tend to do....normal looking models. :D

All the best,

Barry.
