Misfortunes--Examples on how to use them

By RocketPropelledGrenade, in Rogue Trader

So, one of the cool things about the Profit System is the balance of the Misfortune system. If you're on an Endeavor, something could go wrong and counteract your imminent gains. Basically, its a plot hook that lowers your Profit by a few points if you don't resolve it. They have a table of possible misfortunes, but I felt players might need some inspiration on how to come up with their own, and more importantly, how to match them to the appropriate Profit Loss.

So, here goes:

Profit -1
(Usable when replenishing crew and supplies) One or more of the new crewmen has eloped somewhere on the ship, but they are due to marry someone else in order to refresh the ship’s bloodlines. The loss of productivity caused by the resultant uproar could have significant costs.

Profit -2* (Usable while in the Warp)
The covetous greed of a Treasury Officer has caused a Warp anomaly to teleport your wealth around the ship. Soon, it will all be in the hands of shiftless, lazy lower-deck crew, or worse, exit the Gellar Field and be lost forever. Unfortunately, the source of the disturbance cannot be traced, as the Officer has been a model of discretion in concealing his yearning for his master’s wealth.

Proft -3 or more (Usable any time)
A section of the cargo bays has had its power couplings break loose of the rad-shielding. What little data can be gathered amidst the interference indicates lack of maintenance has allowed the failure to have a potential chain reaction, reducing the deck to a Black Hold without immediate repairs.

*If your Rogue Trader's wealth is primarily in coins rather than goods or holdings, feel free to bump this to a 3 or even more.
