Help With Super Casual Shuttle List?

By greene498, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Haven't played in a good long while and I'm looking to shake off the rust before I hit up my LGS. I've got an A-Wing swarm set, but I'm looking for a fun little list for my boyfriend to play. I have limited Imp resources, but he likes the Shuttle. Does anyone have a suggestion for a fun, semi-doable Shuttle list I could build him from the following ships? (If not, I'll just give him 4 TIEs, a pair of Interceptors, and an extra glass of wine.)

-Imp Shuttle

-5 TIEs (4 from Starter, 1 single)

-Imp Aces

-TIE Advanced

-TIE Bomber

-Firespray

(And for the purposes of upgrades, I have at least one of most every Rebel ship except the Tantive and YT-2400, plus two StarVipers.)

Cheers, guys!

Since you were already considering the mixed TIE swarm and you have the autothrusters from your StarVipers, you could try the following:

The "Buzz-Saw" shuttle build is a blast to fly IMO, but that's still 5 ships for him to pilot. Things are going to get pretty hectic if you're running you A-Wing swarm! So, you could also try:

The higher pilot skill Interceptors will presumably make it such that he gets to wait until your swarm has moved before he moves, which I certainly find makes it easier for newer players. Plus, sinking extra points into the shuttle just gives him fewer ships to crash into each other!

EDIT: Doh! I forgot that I bought some Stealth Devices as singles and your Firespray only came with one, right? So hopefully he's not too hard on you about proxies :wacko: Sorry!

tie advanced is a bit limited until the Raider hits. Vader is still decent but a bit too many points for a 2 attack dice ship.

shuttle is much stronger with engine upgrade on it but u can still go with DoomShuttle for 24pts so id start there.

you have the tools to run Soontir at pretty much max power. its a pretty standard setup, the only choice really is Stealth Device or Hull Upgrade or Shield Upgrade and i think u dont have shield upgrade so stealth will get the nod here but for 3pts Hull Upgrade is also decent so go with what u like.

LIST 1:

Omicron Group Pilot + Vader (crew) = 24pts

Soontir Fel + title + autothrusters + stealth device + Push the Limit = 35pts

Kath Scarlet + Rebel Captive = 41pts

Total = 100pts

LIST 2:

Omicron Group Pilot + Vader (crew) = 24pts

Soontir Fel + title + autothrusters + Push the Limit = 32pts

Backstabber = 16pts

Turr Phennir + autothrusters + Veteran Instincts = 28pts

100pts

iv actually flown list 2 and its solid, if a little fragile. playing intercepters takes guts, especially without shield upgrade or hull upgrade or stealth device for an extra buffer on defense.

I second this list. Looks easy to fly (as most of the stuff that needs remembering is on one ship) but should also be fun... and pretty dangerous, too, if he can keep the shuttle pointed the right way. Maybe stress just how terrible that thing is at turning before the game starts so he can plan ahead. :)

Thanks so much, guys! We played Fat Cow and Sabres last night, and he's excited about Buzz Swarm next.

You ain't kidding about how bad the shuttle is at turning, but we were both hilariously rusty. Still, his red die were hotter than my green. The one-two punch of HLC and Gunner zapped me early and his Sabres managed to mostly pick me off as I burned down the shuttle.
