F&D core rulebook eratta

By Blackbird888, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Pointing out discrepancies and typos that I've found so far, folks. I'm comparing rulebooks.

  • There are a few typos I remember seeing in one of the talent trees, but it was late when I read it and I can't find it now.
  • p. 183 in Table 5-10: Gear and Equipment: Stimpacks are listed as rarity 2, they are 1 in the other books; the binders are listed as encumbrance 2 and rarity 4, while they are 0 on both in the other books; the disguise kit is listed as encumbrance 0 and rarity 5, while they are 2 and 4, respectively, in the other books; the electronic lock breaker is listed with an encumbrance and rarity of 0, while they are 1 and 5, respectively, in the other books. Other than some flavor text, there's no difference in description of these items between books.

A couple of other things I noticed different from the Beta but are not necessarily errors:

  • The Delta-7B has been removed entirely, whereas the beta mentioned them together under the same profile. Probably going to give them their own writeup in a future sourcebook.
  • The prices of lightsabers have changed, I believe.

Just an interesting tidbit: statistically, the Victory Star Destroyer in F&D is identical to the one in AoR, but the description identifies the one in F&D as the Victory I-class while the description of the one in AoR identifies it as the Victory II-class. So if you were wondering if there would be any mechanical difference between the two, then the answer is no.

On page 99, the entry for Improved Terrify might have a template issue. The color for the portion of the box that indicates it is a Force talent doesn't match the rest of the box.

Huh... Isn't that what the Force talents looked like in the EotE Beta? I seem to remember that particular coloring from earlier. Interesting little error there.

Two typos I spotted:

Page 141 - Conditioned talent - last sentence ends with "by 1 per rank of Coordination." It should probably read "by 1 per rank of Conditioned" much as it does in the various talent trees that it shows up in.

Page 421 - Inquisitor Step 7: Equipment - the Double-bladed Lightsaber has Unwieldy 2 when it should be Unwieldy 3.

About lightsaber prices, only the double-bladed lightsaber changed, and accounts for the fact that each attachment (including the focusing crystal) costs double.

The Force Power for Protect/Unleash, the first Control Upgrade says "Spend Advantage to ..." instead of "Spend Forcepoint to ...".

Since the roll to activate the power is an opposed check, this may be intentional. I'm not sure, AFAIK it's a change from the latest Beta information.

On the other hand, I don't know of any other Force Powers that spend Advantage, which makes me think it's an error.

Thoughts?

Unleash requires a Difficulty 2 Discipline check along with the power. The Discipline check is a ranged combat check, and automatically fails unless the user can also spend (at least) 2 force points on Unleash. Advantages can be generated on the Discipline check.

I think what happened is that the background for Improved Terrify got corrected from Red to Blue (it's Red in the Beta), but the graphic design person failed to change the starburst icon as well, probably because it's on a different layer or something.

Scalding is pointing out that it's basically made a little easier to trigger that upgrade, since before you had to spend a Force Point first and then can spend Advantage, but now if you have the upgrade, you just use the Advantage.

Anyways. I think it might be intentional since activating some of the more typically useful powers in a single activation is already a considerable number of Force Points as is, so the upgrade kind of goes to waste unless you're swimming in Force Dice. This method gives Protect a more consistent boost with increased Defense, and Unleash something to spend Advantage on that isn't multiples of 4 until they grab the Mastery upgrade.

The talent Sixth Sense is listed as Ranked, where it was originally Unranked in EotE.
