The obvious yet overlooked TIE Scout

The Empire currently lacks a small base support ship and the scout would fill this role nicely plus it fits better thematicly then certain other proposed new ships. I think the stat line would be something like 1/2/4/0 but with two system slots and a crew slot. Action wise i think Focus, Evade, Barrel Roll and SLAM (it is a long range scout after all) would work. What do you guys think?

...yes.I was as much annoyed back then, when it had its debut in X-wing and Tie Fighter, the computergames.

So please, no gunboat, or ugly missile boat nonsense...!

Should have had the Avenger by now but FFG had to throw out the Rebels cartoon stuff while it was hot. With the Advanced Prototype, there's probably not a place for the Avenger anymore. 4/3/3/2 with system and missile slots.

I'm also going to have to say Gunboat first, even though it's not a TIE.

Of course, AFTER the the Aggressor, Oppressor, Hunter and Avenger.

There wasn't a place for the Advanced Prototype, but that didn't stop us from getting one.

Well considering that Imperials is the only faction that gets only 1 ship in wave 8 I would say that they have been overlooked completely and it is not just the scout gunboat missile boat that FFG had missed.

Well we are also getting a new huge ship with a boatload(ha) of new pilots and upgrade cards.

I'm also going to have to say Gunboat first, even though it's not a TIE.

Of course, AFTER the the Aggressor, Oppressor, Hunter and Avenger.

I think it fits in nicely as a swarmable damage soak. But none of those other ships could fill the roll the scout could regardless.

TIE Scout

2/2/5/0

Barrel Roll, Focus, Target Lock, Sensor Ping (new action)

System slot (risky, since AC is likely auto-include), Crew

Sensor Ping

Action. Assign a Ping token to one enemy ship at R1-3.

Ping Token

When you attack a ship with a Ping token assigned to it, you may reroll one defense die. Ping tokens clear during the Clear Tokens step of the End Phase.

If a System slot is included, add a new System upgrade:

Boosted Active Sensors

System. 2 points.

When you perform a Sensor Ping action, you may assign up two Ping tokens to two different enemy ships. You may only equip this card if you have the Sensor Ping action on your action bar.

Pilots would include one who does the following:

When you perform a Sensor Ping action, you may assign the token to any ship within your arc, regardless of range.

I don't remember what I had put before as stats for the Scout, but here goes again.

Att 2 (civilian version had one gun, military had 2)

Agi 1

Hull 6

Shield 2

Focus, TL

System, System, Crew

Double system slot upgrade (long rang sensors)

TL on two ships at once, unlimited range. Or: One friendly ship range 1-3 gains TL on any enemy ship on the board when this ship gets a TL. Or : all friendly ships range 1-3 get an extra focus or evade token when taking those actions

Some of those would make good pilot skills too. I would think 3 unique pilots and one generic. Dunno how much generic would cost, 18-20? Maybe less.

TIE Hunter, TIE Oppressor, Gunboat, TIE Aggressor and TIE Avenger (or even a TIE Scimitar) before a TIE Scout, please ...

Hrm.. I think that might be too tanky for this ship though I do like the upgrade options.

I figured giving it 8 hp with agility 1 (similar to y-wing) was appropriate and not too tanky, seeing the bomber is 6 hull and 2 agility, and that's about he same size as the scout. The Punisher is bigger and has more shields. I would be ok with one less shield on the scout tho.

Oh, then no shields! Hull 5 with one agility would be really vulnerable though. Might wanna keep hull at 6. But then FFG doesn't care about more as much as mechanics and fitting model with already existing ships.

Especially when they continue to have at LEAST 4 options that are cllleeeeearly better (I'm on the Gunboat team though, so I understand if you think that number is a bit too high).

But, then I catch someone saying they want the Tie Scimitar next. Then my head just about explodes.

Technically the Scimitar wasn't part of the TIE series.
