I like how uniquely decentralized it is, and how it plays differently than the Rebel or Imperal Epic ships.

Scum have gained two ships that fill two big holes in their lists - a (classy as hell) fat turret and a tanky B-wing style cheapy, along woth some sweetsweet new upgrades. Great days to be a scummy pirate!

The rebels have got a simply awesome looking pair of ships with very high stat lines that look like they might bring some very new, powerful and fun tactics to the game. Looking forward to seeing what these two ships can do.

We get another tie adv. model. Now, It's a fine model design and everything (I have the shapeways version myself), but really? Another 2-attack small agile fighter? To put it in perspective, this thing does less damage than the bonues little shuttle that pops out of the Rebel's new release! I get that it brings AT to the table, along with some nice action economy, but that sounds awfully close to what we have with the interceptor. Just, y'know, with a worse attack

It's a really exciting wave, don't get me wrong, and the sculpts and styles of the ships are a big improvement on wave 7 but ... I don't know, for the high agility, glass cannon faction, it feels like we're getting an awful lot of very poor attack-dice ships: nearly half of our entire fleet shoot pop-guns (5/11), not one of which can mount a cannon or secondary turret to improve what is probably the most important stat in the game.

What do you guys think? Meh or am I making a mehntain out of a molehill?

Maybe since The owner of the Punishing One was a Imp Assassin he can be used by the Imps kinda like Boba now...? I think as a whole imps are great but in this wave they are meh. They are also meh in SWBF6, I just saw footage of them doing a melee attack, Rebs can kill with one melee attack while Imps need to hit their target twice... There better be a good reason for this.

A sub-30pt Ace is going to make a lot of Imperial builds come out of the woodwork that were always hurtin' for that last half dozen points.

Imperials have a habit of either going for sheer numbers, or having at least something that can specifically deal with hostile aces: Be it a turret, or an ace of your own. That Inquisitor, rocking an effective 3/3/2/2 statline at 25 pts, and a PTL-esque title for one freaking point... is going to be juuuust fine.

No, seriously - how many people have actually tried IG-88 ABCD in Epic?

Epic is the format where you have the excuse to break out those cool big ships you could never do fairly in tournament format. The IG-2000 quartet is exactly that... even if it doesn't use Energy tokens in the process.

It seems like people have 'waited' on Epic until the Imperials had huge ships - well, sure, that's probably fair enough. But Scum? I feel you're missing out if you avoid playing an Epic fight as Scum right there and then.

The tie inquisitor is pretty Meh if your a Imperial ONLY person.

I feel sorry for those who refuse to play all factions but to each their own.

I do expect the newest tie that will likely be released in September to rock your universe though.

Both Cygnus (Lambda-class Shuttle) and Kuat (Firespray-31) are already represented in the Imperial forces in the X-Wing game, so it's not as though there's no precedent for non-Sienar ships there.

As I understand it, the aux arc is part of the gimic. If the Phantom isn't docked, the Ghost is more or less a Decimator that has traded its primary turret for an extra red die.

I think in terms of ships, that's really up to personal taste as to whether one faction has more variety than others and where you see it. I mean, the Imperials currently have the only cloaking ship and will still have the only one with ACD. I like the variety of imperials myself and really like the spot the new ProtoAdv will fill.

One area that might be lacking for the imperials though is that they don't have unique upgrade slots like the other factions and are behind in that area.

Rebels also have small ship turrets and astromechs.

Its worth looking at especially as those slots can add more customization and flexibility to ships and lists with each new release. Every "general" upgrade card that makes an imperial ship better helps out the other factions' ships too. I'm not sure if that's on purpose or just how things have gone, and I'm not saying it's unbalanced, just that it's a pretty clear difference with no upside in terms of flavor for imperials.

The idea of hot roding up Imperials just does not look right. I like my gray-blue-black-metallic ships.

They would never do what I'm about to suggest, but...

I want the Gozanti to be 1.5 Epic points, so I can put 3 of them on a table at once. 8 TIE Fighters and 4 TIE Bombers as accompaniment.
