Are Imperials getting more meh?

By banjobenito, in X-Wing

Okay sorry and back on topic. I can see the Advanced prototype as a whole in a pretty difficullt spot with 2 attacks, being essentially a more expensive Tie Fighter with the same firepower. And i can therefore understand some of the OP's lack of joy about wave 8.

But the Inquisitor himself seems very strong if you ask me. Always 3 dice attack, (does that also mean no additional green die ar R3?) and defensively he is very solid. Give him his title, Autothrusters and either VI or PTL. Now you have actually something around 30 points everyone needs to respect. He might become the Corran Horn of the Prototype Advanced though. He is awesome and the rest of the pilots useless. Very well possible, but we really can't know yet!

Who's denying that the X-Wing needs a bit of help? All people are saying is that the TIE-Advanced was even worse off. The only people I've seen claim that the X-Wing is fine tend to be the people who are running it and winning with it.

Seriously. You're arguing against a position literally nobody is taking.

The last part is not true. Because i have had this argumentation over and over in the past, and there are people just not acknowledging that there is something wrong with the X-Wings current power level. Mainly imperial only players that just don't want it fixed for... I actually don't know why? They want imps to completely dominate the meta i guess.

Otherwise I totally agree with your analysis of the situation.

If by meh you mean: WE GET FREAKING TIE CARRIERS IN EPIC!!! HOW ******* AWESOME IS THAT?!?!?

then yeah. Very meh.

Off on a slight tangent, but isn't it kind of funny that X-wing Epic can carry and launch ships while Star Wars Armada can't.

TROUBLE MAKER...

Well pretty much everything spoiled there for Wave 7, where would this fix be?

Supposedly there's Episode 7 stuff "on the water" that they cant talk about. Given that Episode 7 has a new model Xwing (the T70 would make a good "fix" title) and a new series of astromechs (BB series), this NDA'd Episode 7 release is likely to be the Xwing fix.

NOTHING is wrong with Wedge, Luke, and Biggs. They are still showing up and placing well in tournaments.
You have access to black market tournament information? I cant find any X-Wings placing well other than that lately!

Okay we will see in 3 years approx when FFG releases this new X-Wing XD

If its already "On the water", somehow I dont think it will take QUITE that long... Imperial Raider nonwithstanding.

So Force, you join the thread to snipe about moaning imperial bootlickers, and to call me a bickerer, then proceed to moan and bicker for a page, off on your own wee tangent?

No need for aggro matey, especially not the self-satirising kind!

I think you and lots of posters before you might be right though - the TAP has the potential to add a new first-class fragile ace to the imperial list, and might make a really nice little swarm too. My post was about ffg design strategies for the imperials, though, both mechanically and sculpturally, and whether the faction is looking a bit narrow compared to its scum & rebel friends. There is where the meh is, in my opinion.

the fact that the TAP includes a TAP only verson of the Xwing fix I suggested a month back feels interesting. It lacks the synergy it would have had on the Xwing, though.

The simple reason for only one ship is that they are jus out of ships. Let's face it the remaining Ties that have not been released are hardly more than footnotes in videogames and some just look incredibly silly. (Tie Scout anyone?) other than Ties... I know... The Gunboat or Starwing or whatever you call it. I played all XvT games, and despite this i m not excited to see it.

I hope the new movies will refuel them with interesting new stuff!

Does Empire now have one less ship than the other factions? If yes, i don't care, and that comes from someone playing all 3 factions regularly! As long as they have diverse and competitive options, i am fine with it!

Yeah TL with a two attack ships not really instinctive is it I can see the value for the inquisitor but not the generics.

What's worse is it now prevents the x-wing from getting something similar.

That's a bad typo... But Wedge+R2D2+SU+ION TORPEDO = 42 points. I have never flown Wedge in such a way. Going to have to try it!

I don't think the V1 title is what the X-wing needs! It NEEDS a post dial movement. I personally think a 0 point astromech should provide a barrel roll and maybe one at cost that provides both boost and barrel roll.

I also liked the idea of making them a bit more durable:

Stabilize Rear Deflector Shields

Title: X-wing only

When defending, if the attacker is outside your firing arc, you may change 1 of your blank results to an evade result.

Gozanti rescued my interest in buying more x-wing stuff. If the CAD/USD exchange rate wasn't so bad I'd be tempted to buy two. I'm very curious to see more of this one: can it take ships other than tie fighters? how does it support them? How many epic points does it cost? Also four new TIE pilots!

I'm also happy they did a Rebels wave. The Ghost is a nice mini and it's neat to have a socketed ship, so I'll pick one up.

The only one I'm not sure of is the Tie Adv. Prototype. I don't really understand what this ship offers over other TIEs, it looks like more of the same. We need more spoilers...

MEH!

I'm sure I am in the minority, but I would rather see MORE of the same ships for the empire than new ones. I like the idea of the empire having standard designs and using them. Give me more TIE pilots, some more regular bombers and the like.

It doesnt work from a game design standpoint though, as to keep the game fresh you need new content.

Wasn't he planning on paying Jabba back then returning? It's a shame they didn't have bank transfers, could have made things a lot easier.

That's the downside to being on the run from the galactic government, while owing money to a crimelord. You can't use banks, as every transaction is potentially monitored.

The Hutts and the Rebellion were both operating in what we call a low-trust environment. This adds a lot of friction to every business transactions, and makes face to face deals necessary.

I'd bet the Rebellion had a terrible time getting supplies, for the simple fact that they couldn't move money easily. A good accountant would be both necessary and nearly impossible.

The logistics of crime are difficult.

They could have used BitCoin!

I am simultaneously relieved that it's an upgrade that works, yet even more confused now that A) DTF and ICT can somehow be confused in your system, and B) Someone put DTF on WEDGE.

Hey now, he might be running R2D2 - it's a great way to land a free hit on Biggs without actually upgrading Biggs. The risk, of course, is that Wedge might be caught having soaked a shot and not recovered it on the round that Biggs dies, and he starts sustaining fire while already a shield down.

It's not a bad idea, but it's one that relies on spreading regen across two ships instead of one. If you don't have any regen, of course, I don't know what to say to you. ;)

It's all just numbers, in this case I somehow put upgrade id 20 in as 12. There are 1100 rows currently in the database, bound to be some errors here and there unfortunately, but feel free to message me if you find any others. Also if you have any ideas for new features, for example I just put in some new pages to sort squads simplified down to just the ship or pilot combinations, this allows you to see that maybe BBBBZ isn't as strong as it seems in the other list, it just doesn't have any other upgrade combinations to dilute it.

But ya it was Wedge + R2D2 + DTF + Shield Upgrade with Biggs, a Bandit and an R3A2 + ICT + Titled Y-wing
