I maybe seeing this wrong: Dengar w/ White S-Loop

By Resv, in X-Wing

I have been pouring over all of the announcement pictures and I just noticed something on the Jumpmaster's dial. It is kinda hard to make out but it sorta looks like a white 2 S-Loop maneuver. Admittedly I might be wrong on this but it really does kinda look like an S-Loop.

I'm pretty sure it is. Given that the article says the Jumpmaster's dial is asymmetrical, the trade off for having a white S-Loop may be that you can only Loop in one direction.

Two wrongs dont make a right... but three lefts do!

Old jokes aside, Im willing to bet that the Sloop Left is the vehicals best -right- turn maneuver.

Dengar flies the Q-Wing!

The unhinged astromech might mitigate some of the asymmetric properties of the dial too.

I doubt it will have sharp rights. And right banks might be red.

So it's a Zoolander ship! Didn't someone post that as a jokey title for a ship but basically it's come true?

That sounds pretty cool if it ends up being the case. Amazing maneuverability on one side, crap on the other. :P

Dengar is not an ambi-turner.

A short white S-loop followed by a barrel roll is going to be crazy for elusiveness, which he'll need due to his relative fragility.

I'm loving this ship already. Both the JM5000 and the Mist Hunter look amazing, and loook amazingly fun as well...

The Jump Master is really kicking the Tie Defender when it is down. White Segnor turret ship with barrel roll and cheap to boot.

It's only really cheap if you fly it without the title, in which case you're throwing two attack dice. Otherwise, you're looking at 45 points for the PS9 variant. The S-loop on a turreted ship is only really useful for arc-dodging and jumping out of the way of shots, or lining up shots against Autothrusters.

Dengar's pilot ability is also a double-edged sword. It only procs when you're shot at by someone within your firing arc, but that also means that you must leave yourself in position to be shot at. Handy against other PWTs, but less ideal against arced ships that you'd want to simply avoid.

Pretty good reasons to me ;). I like the Jump Master don't get me wrong, I just really want theTie Defender to be usefull, and even with the upcomming Twin Ion Engine card, its way to expensive for what you useually get out of it. The white k turn is probably the most anticipated move, so you seldomly get a devastating effect out of it. A huge ship segnor looping and then barrel rolling will cover some ground, and still wont need you in arc to fire at you.

The tie defender is going to need a fix like the a-wing it advanced. It's just overpriced and it doesn't have good enough action bar or upgrade slots to compensate. FFG greatly overvalued the white k-turn.

Im thinking that it will be close to a decimator dial and only have the one white s-loop.

I will repeat my broken record approach: try it with Palpatine. Vessary with an HLC is a 4-dice beatstick of hits and crits when paired with Kenkirk and the Emperor.

Also, I believe that if you use gunner on your main attack, you can't use your ability that turn.

Fly him with Decoy?

  • get shot
  • shoot back
  • get primary
  • get gunner if miss

No text forbidding it.

No reason you wouldn't be able to trigger gunner off the bonus attack, is there?

So this ship is only good with one pilot at 42 points plus another 8 points on a different ship?

I don't see why not, but be careful: If you bonus attack before primary attack you will not be able to primary (Gunner is clear, you cannot attack again this round!)

57: Dengar w/ Punishing One, PtL, Unhinged Astro, K4 Droid, Inertial Dampeners, Engine Upgrade

The new super Dash for a point cheaper? It's not HLC, but I think having PS 9, more greens, and Dampeners is more than enough to compensate. He'd sure dine on Dash.
