Is anyone here still interested in Wave 7?
I'm excited for this wave still; I'll be getting one of each as I'm an imperial and scrum player; I have a lot of rebels, but I don't enjoy flying them as much. Ill be getting the k-wing primarily for the Conner net.
The wave 8 announcement is really just icing on the cake for me ![]()
I'm super excited for Wave 7. Haven't been this excited since Wave 4. I am not very excited at all about Wave 8.
Welp, one wave after releasing the Scum X-wing, they're releasing a Scum B-wing. You know, that thing that pushed the X-wing out of the meta? Yeah.
I'm going to be eyeing the costings for that ship with interest.
(The ship itself looks pretty, though.)
24pts minimum, most likely.
- PS3 generic, no EPT, 24pts (miiiiiight be 23, but so far they've done 1pt/1PS for the Scum EPT generics)
- PS5 generic, EPT, 26pts
- PS6 4-LOM, EPT, 27pts
- PS7 Zuckus, EPT, 28pts
And yeah, the Mist Hunter was always sort of fugly, FFG absolutely saved the sculpt.
My prediction bieng that 4-LOM will have no EPT
There's no need to predict, he's got one:
Look at the lower left corners of the pilot cards. They all overlap the same amount. The leftmost one has a shadow from Gand Findsman. Gand Findsman has the edge of an upgrade icon, in exactly the place Zuckuss' visible card has the EPT icon. 4-LOM's card has the same thing.
Considering how Wave 7 has yet to even arrive at my game shop... yeah I'm still interested in 7.
I mean come on FFG, at least let me buy the existing stuff before spoiling more XD
Weirdly... it's actually counterproductive on FFG's part. What if they reveal ships I want more? I'm not going to buy the wave 7 ones am I? :|

What's up with the crap EU that said 4-LOM was a protocol droid? Not all humanoid droids are servant bots. IG-88 was always portrayed as some kind of war droid or assassin, but ol bug head is an ugly 3PO? If anything 4-LOM should have been an assassin droid posing as a protocol droid. Now that's an interesting story.

he was a valet on a space-liner for the stupendously rich who got it into his circuits to become a cat burglar
nobody suspects the butlervalet
I guess the IG-88 story were he took over the Death Star (!!!!!!!) made me blank out all the other bounty hunter stories...I think that was when I swore off Star Wars novels for a while. Dropping a moon on Chewie caused me to completely reject the EU novels that weren't from the 70s or 80s
What, no 90s love?
There is a certain charm in how audacious it is.
I think dash "shoulder pauldrons and bags" rendar might have burned out the capacity for some people to handle the 90's.

I'm just not interested in Wave 8 except for the Scum ships.
Maybe it has to do with the fact that I haven't seen the show Rebels, but I'm also not much excited about a 0 green dice Firespray. It'll depend on how the pilots turn out. At least it's not another turret (assuming you can't somehow turn it into one with upgrades).
I also don't like the look of the Ghost. Reminds me too much of the submarine from Episode 1...
As far as wave 7 goes, I'm hoping an ordinance revamp is as good as it sounds to me. I'll be enjoying the new scum ships at the very least.

Did you perform an extensive search for such a prior gathering or did you get distracted?
Wave 7 is great, and it is always exciting when new things come into the game and players get deep into squad building as they look to shift the meta, no matter what wave it is.
But I'm already having a fear that wave 7 will ever be known as the "Twin Laser Turret Wave", because, well... It's really, really powerful.
And a turret.
And people don't like turrets.
And it doesn't even give range bonuses at range 3.
And it gets multiple shots, and strips tokens for other ships to just tear through your unmodified dice.
TLT users are like mini super Dash. Except, there is possibly more then one of them. Yes, it's waay too early to say things like this, but, I just have a feeling...
So, I guess what I'm trying to say is this- If you are overlooking Wave 7, you're gonna get a nasty surprise when you wake up and find that it brought some nasty, nasty tools to the table.
Shoulders and pouches are EXTREME!
Is that you, Rob Liefeld?

The only ships that can take it (until the Ghost, anyway) are the Y-wing, HWK-290, and K-wing. None of those ships can barrel roll by default, the way Dash can. The Y-wing and K-wing don't have EPTs, like Dash does. And none of those ships can ignore obstacles the way Dash can.
The TLT is really good, but I think we're safe from a wave full of mini Super Dashes.
There is definitely an arms race going on. Seems like since Wave 5 with HLC Outrider, there has been a blossoming of 4+ dice attack options and a push towards exploiting them. Now we are shifting slightly to multi-attack. There used to be gunner / Luke. Then we got BTL-A4 and IG88B. Waves 7&8 add TLT, Ghost, and Dengar.
The multi-attack functions are interesting but it just makes it harder for conventional ships to compete.

The list that won Nationals featured two naked Blue Squadron Pilots.

you know what else does multi-attack?
multiple, conventional ships ![]()
remember, just because ghost can attack twice (after you pay for another ship and a SWT, so really it's just 2 ships attacking at the same time) it doesn't mean it'll be any good
As for Dengar, his ability is really the only way he's competing with other stupid PWTs. He's the frailest of the 3; only way he's winning the dice-fest is by doubling up on his attacks

OK, mini Super Dash was a bit overboard. But Mini-Outriders maybe?
Even if the comparison was off, I have played with decent lists against TLT focused lists, and each time, I have been absolutely squashed. A list I ran with TLT, even though I did not think it was that competitive, won me a game handily, even though it used droids and torps I hardly see used (R5-K6 and proton torps). Maybe others experiences will differ, and the truth is I just am a terrible pilot against TLT, And maybe I just like the idea of being one of the first to toot the horn that later is heard round the world. So that's why I'm making sure everyone knows what I think haha. ![]()
Also- This wave seems to really be bad for B-wings. TLTs wreck them, and even the munitions that are out there, even if they (yet again) fail to make munitions relevant, are all especially detrimental to B-wings.

TLTs aren't any rougher on B-Wings than a regular 3 dice attack. B-Wings get access to Tractor Beams (whatever the hell those actually do) and all of the new Rebel only crew coming with the Ghost. I don't think the B-Wing needs anyone's pity. Bs also have a pair of Torpedo upgrades, so if anything makes ordnance awesome B-Wings stand to gain.

My statement is based on a thorough, oh look a squirrel!
Phantom is awful
I don't know that I'd say that until I saw the dial, the cost, and the pilot abilities. It's a 3 attack Z-95 that can take a systems slot, a crew, and a turret upgrade. It could end up being decent in lists even without the Ghost.
I'll be honest, I might run these more than HWKs, or alongside HWKs. I'd gladly buy several VCX-100s for those Attack Shuttles. They seem really useful.

Man, I loved that story and I thought the 4-LOM one was good as well. I think he's so much cooler because he exceeded his original programming and was becoming truly sentient than if he was just another badass assassin droid that was built to be a cold hard killing machine.
