New X-Wing ship and Armada

By MaverickNZ, in Star Wars: Armada

So some of you may have seen the announcement from Gencon :)

Among the new ships for X-Wing is the Punishing one JumpMaster 5000 - which features in the Armada Rogues and Villains wave 2 expansion. We also have the Hounds Tooth from the same Armada expansion already announced for X-Wing too.

We have already also had the Raider which was designed for X-Wing coming across to Armada in wave 2.

So it's clear that FFG is looking to be smart with development and look at ships that can work across both systems.

So having said that - I think we might see a new addition to Armada in the form of the new X-Wing epic ship. The Imperal Assault Carrier https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2015/7/31/lying-in-wait/

Im picking an Imperial small base ship with a high squadron value, to help those vicious tie swarms move across the battlefield :)

Granting that scale is variable, but that ship is less than half as long as a CR90. I'd almost expect to see it introduced as the imperial mirror to Jan; a squadron that makes other squadrons more mobile.

But maybe not. The thought of a small ship that's designed for squadron support (and not, like, Raider/Neb style "support the squadron by blowing up all opposing fighters") is certainly an interesting one.

Yep, well thats definitely the other option - I think there are a number of Imperial assests that could make an appearance in a new "heavy firepower" squadron pack with it supporting them, including the TIE Punisher, TIE Defender, and Missile gunboats.

It is hope full we will see ships with the ability to carry and deploy squads, i guess they wanted to work on the ship to ship fighting first then everything else afterwards.

Super Excited though.

Bringing in Rebels will open the door to a Number of possibilities. Like the Rebel Command ship from The Siege of Lothal along with Fulcrum!

The Command Ship was called the Phoenix Home and was a Pelta class frigate. It had more Turbolasers and Laser Cannons than a CR90 and was about twice the mass of one too.
