[WAVE 8] What We Know (and how we know it)

By Tipperary, in X-Wing

She can expose herself for 5 dice, 6 at range 1. That with her movement shenanigans gives her a huge advantage. As an Imp player i find that pretty scary.

Note - just incase anyone thinks it.

I am not saying she is OP

I am not saying the sky is falling.

I am not saying she'll be the meta.

Just saying it looks pretty formidable.

I dont think the ghost has an elite upgrade slot so it can't take expose. I think that's the big trade off, during the activation phase your not going above PS7 so as long as you bring higher pilot skills to the table arc dodging should at least in theory, be plausible.

Hera seems way undercosted to me which means the VCX-100 in general is probably extremely undercosted.

Just compare her to a patrol leader at the same cost, sure you lose the turret for attacks from the side but the extra attack die and amazing pilot ability more than makes up for that. Unless it has a terrible dial I don't see this could be anything other than blatant power creep.

hah no

just ignoring the turret advantage like that is silly. The PWT is an idiotic ability that gives you license to shoot at anyone who can shoot at you, and lets you fly as defensively as you wish without ever having to sacrifice a shot. With that fatass and large-base displacement, that single arc requires actual decision-making and some difficult tactical choices to get shots on enemies.

The only way Hera represents powercreep is if you think she can out-dance an Aggressor

I didn't say anything about ignoring the turret, I said that's looking like it's the Patrol Leader's only advantage over Hera which just isn't a good enough advantage given the extra attack die and pilot ability. The latter of which obviously depends heavily on the dial which we don't know yet so I can't yet say for sure if it's power creep. It should definitely be a concern however.

The ability to "out-dance an Aggressor" has no bearing at all on whether or not something is too powerful for it's cost. We also have no idea if she can do so or not yet because the dial isn't out.

Well we know some of the dial will be worse, as her ability includes red manouvres, and the Deci doesn't have any. So I'm thinking she'll have at least a turn (2-turn?) that's red.

And do we know she's 40? Is there a clearer picture? She could be 46/48. And as they have only just gone to the printers, FFG might have changed costs/stats since we saw this preview. It was in July, so lots of months and testing has past.

I don't see how the dial could be worse unless it's an extremely weird one as it's already spoiled as having a 4 forward green. Having reds doesn't mean the dial is going to be worse because for all we know those reds will be S-Loops or K-Turns.

If all of the greens are straight and the reds are the two 2-hard turns, her ability would be nice but not game breaking. With where her PS sits her ability is mostly going to be used to avoid being blocked by lower PS ships. It does make Intel Agent a really interesting on her when dealing with high PS aces.

The first person to describe a loaded ghost as a 'Fat Hera' is probably gonna get his face slapped with lekku.

And pushed out an airlock by a psychotic astromech.

Nah, Chopper would laugh.

Kanan, however...

Curvy Hera, then.

Yeah, one thing people seem to assume is that the Ghost has a native EPT slot, which it doesn't. Now, with all that unspoiled crew, there's potential to acquire one that way, but nothing on the card.

I think some of the Attack Shuttle pilots have it, though. Either explanation could be why Predator is packed in with the ships.

Accepting the problem is the first step to solving it, no?

4 attack dice pointed at me are enough encouragement to say there's no problem.

Not terribly important, but pretty sure the name for the turret upgrade on the ghost is "dorsal turret"

Pretty much every reference guide lists the ghost as having those. And it matches the text more importantly.

So everyone keeps saying. Initially I thought the text spacing for the upper line was a bit off, but in retrospect it's probably right.

I'll put it down as Dor... Turr... for now at least.

Maybe that Dorsal Turret has like 180 front arc or something, not 360 like all turrets have.. Just an idea! :)

That would only work on a ship that has a printed 180 auxilary arc (like the hounds tooth).

It could work by allowing to fire out of arc but not in arc. It would make Y-wings want to fly at you sideways.

Just wishing to make a small contribution. Sorry if it has already been mentioned: looked through 13 pages and didn't find that anyone had posted this.

(...)

And "Gonk" (according to the place on the card's bar, the name is short) is a unique droid adding shields (with handicaps, definitely). Has anyone suggested any reasons for 7 shield tokens to be in the expansion?..

Gonk is a power droid (stated earlier), so it would be fitting. Someone remarked already on the excess shield tokens.

Now is there any evidence that Gonk can fill an astromech slot? Or are we pretty sure it's going to be crew?

He looks more like a Crew member to me, not as much of Astromech. He has legs and all! :)

On the next episode of Rebels we'll see a Gonk droid with amother purpose... I think he's a courier droid or is hiding something.

As for Gonk being an astromech, I think it comes down to the "square peg in a round hole" problem. ;)

I had to do this:

GYgi7CT.png

You had to put that image in my head, and now you will have it.

Also I support the idea of calling a loaded Ghost a Fat Hera...cause I have to do that now.

^isn't there some Rebels concept art that has her looking much more Orn Free Taa?

Anyway, in lieu of previews or better things to do, adding T-70 and TIE/f***off expansions into the first and second posts.

I just want Chopper in the game IDK how I will make him work but I will find a way even if it means on a Falcon or Outrider or K-wing etc

I sincerely hope those extra shields don't point to regen

we already have Fat Han and imperial Fat Han; we don't need scum Fat Han

maybe it would give shield regen with stress and green maneuver? i would not mind to get one fat build for scum to balance that issue out in game, but i would like to see more intresting solution for it tho!

[update in progress]

e: believe I got everything, shame no titles were spoiled.

Still missing those, 2 pairs of upgrades, and the rest of the TIE pilots.

So went back and looked close at the Gozanti card fan, and looks like Gozanti has only 1 new standard play upgrade to spoil.

Here are the cards in the fan from left to right

TOP ROW

Epic Play Only

1 Expert Handling

2 Expose

3 Marksmanship (both action based EPTs interestingly enough)

4 Dual Laser Turret

5 Broadcast Array

6-7 ???

8-9 ???

10-11 Ordnance experts

12 Docking Clamps

13 Agent Kallus

14 Rear Admiral Chiraneau

BOTTOM ROW

15-17 Optimized Generators

18-20 Automated Protocols

21-23 Ordnance Tubes

24 ???

25 ??? (24 or 25 is playable in standard)

26 ??? (Clearly Epic specific)

I'm assuming the two sets of unspoiled cards which have multiples are also Epic only (6 through 9), as if they were usable in standard play, that would not add up with the numbers given in the article. That means those 4 cards and 1 more unspoiled card match the twenty-one Huge ship specific cards. Knowing that cards 1, 2 and 3 are cards we already have which are usable in standard, plus Agent Kallus, that leaves 1 more unspoiled card which can be used in standard play, which is one of the last 3 cards in the fan. Possibly the 2nd from last, as the other 2 seem to feature the Gozanti, and the very last is clearly Epic specific.

Darn. Was hoping for more standard usable cards :/

Figured this was worth posting here.

Last three are titles, no? Every Epic ship has had 3 so far.

Yes you would think so, so there was either an error in the article, or the Gozanti is breaking the status quo.

No expose it looks like but you could always run tlt Jan Ors with her and boost her to 6

May have only gotten 2 titles due to all the Gozanti only cards it comes with. I think it has 3 that got spoiled

All three of those cards seem to have the unique bullet, though (it's squeezed into the angle of the field on the right-most so less apparent there), which means they're almost certainly titles.

Not necessarily. There are plenty of unique upgrades. A unique EPT could make sense, as they wouldn't want a single copy of an EPT that you could take multiples of coming exclusively in a large ship expansion.

I'm not disagreeing with you though. The article very well could be wrong. But according to the info they've given us, along with the picture of all items included within the expansion, one of those last 3 cards is usable in standard play.
