well Dengar potentially gets 2 attacks, so that's +2 dice
so...yes on Dengar (Punishing One is his ship, after all), nope on the generic and "?" on the revealed named pilots
Ah, okay. That makes sense.

Dengar's ability is going to be a freaking terror even with just the cards we have available. In fact, the same recpec + r4 combo that turns the pogo into a torp boat can have Dengar farting out two fully modded attacks a round ![]()
And now we know how he's expected to duke it out v han without any defensive tech ![]()

The fact that he will get to double tap you is a defensive upgrade all on its own, it will make players less inclined to target Dengar unless he's out of arc.
Of all the talk of "power creep" from the T-65 X to the T-70 (which is bogus, btw), the Ghost and the Jumpmaster 5000/Dengar are the most scared of power creep I've ever been.
Now, I don't really think there is power creep here, but I think we have much more reason to be worried about these behemoths then the T-70...

we've got more reason to be worried about the Phantom (the dingy little shuttle, not the TIE...stupid repeated names) by itself more than the T-70
not much of a standard there ![]()

Depending on the greens on the dial, k4 and smiley droid would get along great as well.

Dengar+Punisher One is already 45 points. It's a nasty ship, but only nine HP (one more than an IG) and two agility (one less than an IG): if you can line it up, it won't be super hard to kill. Should perform similar in some regards to SuperDash, but Dengar won't be as slippery and won't be as potent at R3. Remove the title and you're left with a 2-dice PWT, which is very non-threatening. With Dengar's ability, getting lined up could be brutal, but it will also require the player to fly Dengar like a normal ship and not just lazy float him along the edges of the battle. Arc dodgers will give him fits, as will other turrets. Heck, all you have to do to avoid the double-tap is not shoot him.
Look at the cards and tokens on the jumpmaster pic. It comes with more shield tokens that printed on its card... I think the Gonk droid will be a shield power booster.

there is a card called rein... Defl... I think it will be reinforced deflectors which might be a super shield upgrade mod. Not sure if this was in the Ghost or Punishing one though... Oh well I'll have to get both ![]()

Holy ****, I just realized that Punishing One title's cost.
Is +1 attack really worth 12 freakin points?!
It doesn't even give it something crazy, like a 4 or 5. It just gives it a 3.
If you consider how the PWT ships are costed, it's about in line. It makes Dengar 45 points base, which is about in line with the YTs bare.
It makes him the same cost as Mangler Dash with no other upgrades, but with higher pilot skill on a ship that can barrel roll, one less hit point, but can also have access to some sort of green speed 3 maneuvers via Unhinged Astromech for 1 additional point. The dial is what will be the biggest variable here. Dengar can move after Dash with (again, an as yet unknown set of) Green Speed 3 maneuvers and receive a free Target Lock from K4. With Engine Upgrade and Push, this gives you presumably great arc dodging power with the same action efficiency as Dash at higher Pilot Skill and faster green maneuvers. Dash will likely have the more versatile dial (more options and can ignore obstacles) while the JM5K will have a weird dial (asymmetrical, at least one white 2 S-Loop) with more and faster green maneuvers, assuming it naturally has green maneuvers other than straights. That would make Unhinged a necessity.
Point being, it will be a powerful arc dodging turret for quite similar cost and capability to the Outrider.

Wait, and there we have it. He needs to keep you in arc. Only then he might be efficient enough to justify his cost. And that's huge since you actually have to play the game of maneuvering, unlike certain other PWTs we know!
I think that Dengars pilot ability also has defensing value if you maneuver him right and that it self is 'justifying' slight loss in Hit Points and Shiled. Your opponent will think twice if he will attack you or not, because you could launch any set of torpedoes you have in or just shoot with the PWT at him. This ship will offer so much crazy combos with EPT, Crew Slot and Astromech slot.. It is overwhelming to me that how many combos I can make from only those three slots! ![]()
Denger's double-tap efficiency only becomes a necessity when you cannot avoid getting shot (such as by other, more idioctic PWTs) because the pogo will not out-dice them otherwise
if you're giving up the double-tap to not get shot at at all, then efficiency can kiss whatever counts for that ship's ass
one can never underestimate the sheer idiocy that is the 3-dice PWT, but the punishing one is built less like a fat han and more like a super dash. With any luck, FFG will go the right thing and not include some c3po type crap to make fat pogosticks viable.
The JM5K and the Hounds Tooth, and honestly the Firespray at this point, won't be widely competitive UNLESS we get some powerful defensive crew members. Not to say they won't be present and don't have powerful build options, but the fact that Fat Falcons and Decimators exist means that until the Scum Large bases can mitigate a similar amount of damage, they won't be able to compete in the long run. The JM5K is going the right direction with its arc dodging potential, especially with Dengar at PS9, but if there is every a time when you cannot arc dodge IE against another turret or your opponent spreads or the like, it will fold. The Hounds Tooth already has this problem. Bossk and Moralo barf damage in the opening volleys and then roll up like a carpet.
I'm guessing you were playing back in Wave 2 and 3. Remember how generally awful the Falcon was at the time? It could win games, but it didn't win a lot of tournaments. The Scum ships currently have the same problems, and because those other fortresses exist and aren't going away, the scum ships are highly disadvantaged. The Tooth seems tailor made for some defensive upgrades. Look at all those crew seats! Until we get some damage mitigators to fill them, its competitively irresponsible to fill all of those seats because you're driving up the price and driving down the efficiency of an already inefficient craft.
So, I say bring on my defensive crew members! I am no huge fan of the Fat Turret Meta, but it is slightly subsiding now, and I WANT to be able to play my Hounds Tooth and my upcoming JM5K without fearing it's a waste of points due to lack of durability.
introducing defensive crew would only serve to see the PWT get fat. You wouldn't see any sprays or teeth, just dengar and the aggressor because no matter what you do the YV is going to have the worse dial and neither it nor the firespray are going to have a PWT to abuse the crap out of
the problem with the YV in particular is that people seem to expect a fat ship out of what is basically a super-shuttle
it's not meant to be a fat ship (we have aggressors for that), forcing it into 2-ship builds with a fully loaded paper-bossk isn't going to change that
Besides, with the (much needed and long overdue) hit to m.o.v, points hoarding will be less of a thing and we can afford to diversify into more builds. Trying to bring on a scum ripoff of fat han is just ass backwards.
the game is going in an interesting new direction that can afford to have more than 2 ships in the competitive circuit again; there is precisely zero need to shackle it back to garbage from wave 2 and an overpriced upgrade card
unless of course it's an arc restricted benefit that the yv and spray can actually make more use of than the pogostick, then it's okay. After all, we're getting Dengar (Crew) who hopefully triggers in-arc like the pilot, and the faction already has Garz, so there's a good precedent set.

So, I think the YV is really good- as a generic. If you keep the cost down its offense is incredible- no need for multi-tactician setups, Bossk+gunner+tactician gives you a double stress against any interceptors in that R2 band. If you try to build an ace YV like Han Solo you're going to be disappointed, but if you can keep the cost down its offense and bag of HP works for it. I'm going to venture to guess that Scum will never get particularly good defensive crew options because of the economics of the YV.
And, in all honesty the best thing about Dengar is his PS9, not so much his ability. The PWTs best aspect is defensive flying and if you're flying defensive you're probably not going straight at an attacker. I'm not saying his ability sucks, but the PS9 is more interesting to me.

I agree with that completely. He can be configured very much like Dash for a similar cost and higher pilot skill. Made a post further up about that. He'll definitely be a great arc dodger. His ability will be great when it triggers but you're right there, too, it is just sort of auxiliary to the arc dodging capabilities. Trying to maneuver to make it trigger will likely put you in bad positions a lot.

I've seen it for as little as £30 on pre-order (Eurotrash Games), but yeah that's still dear in comparison to previous large base ships. Even the Decimator was only £30 RRP.
None of the other large base ships also come packaged together with an epic flying stand and an additional small base ship, however.
Has it not made it to the header post that the ghosts turret is probably 'Dorsal' turret? Could at least put it in parenthesis maybe?

The Ghost's stand is standard Large size and the peg is a new "upside down tripod" design... but not Epic. just saying.
OK, so it comes with a small based ship AND a totally unique new stand. All the more reason for it to cost more than a Decimator, then!
