I was wrong about you FFG. I BELIEVE.

By Blail Blerg, in X-Wing

Such a beautiful...beautiful day. I've been waiting a long while for Star Wars Rebels to get into FFG.

*wipes tears of joy away*

I'm gonna be so broke...

What's making me go absolutely crazy is the inevitable next-steps, here.

I'd say "Rebels" and/or Lothal, generally, is a sure-fire guaranteed future module of 'Imperial Assault'.

WANT

NOW

Eeeyup! My thoughts exactly!

Sabine Wren in Imperial Assault must happen!

I'm so happy not everyone here is vehemently opposed to anything produced after 1998. ^_^

UHHH. Yeah. Twice? 3 dice? Turret? erm. I think we have yet another fat pancake.

Scum don't necessarily have the defensive crew for proper fatness.

Dengar being PS9 is a little wierd.

That was bugging me too. Dengar is a better pilot than Fett? Really?

Wasn't Dengar a hotshot swoop racer before he became a hunter. I think he crashed really badly in a race against Han, and then got all cyborg up and started bounty hunting. So I can see ps 9, plus he's corellian, they're all crazy about flying.

IIRC in Tales of the Bounty Huntess he was also cybernetically enhanced by the empire.

What gets me is that Hera Syndula is only PS 7. She is made out to be a crazy good pilot in both Rebel Dawn and the television series...I was expecting at least an 8. And then Dengar comes out of seemingly nowhere with a PS 9. I'm glad you guys who have read BHW are sharing your knowledge, because that PS choice left me scratching my head.

I agree with you on Hera. I would have pegged her at an 8 or a 9. I suspect the gameplay/balance implications of another high PS large ship rebel outweighed the theme in this instance...

Bering Corellian is an guarantee to become a PS9 Pilot ^^ Han, Wedge, Fel, Dengar ;)

7 Seems to be alright. I don't think there is enough canon info on her to warrant her being as good a pilot as Wedge, Vader or Han at 9.

An 8 could have worked as well. Is she in the same tier as Luke, Tycho, Ten Numb, Horton, or Corran Horn?

It's probably up for debate, but I don't think the community is ready for her to be an 8 just yet.

Yeah, of the bounty hunters, Dengar actually does make a lot of sense as the PS 9, since he was a swoop racer- Swoop bikes achieve speeds comparable to racecars and fly in obstacle-filled tracks, so you need incredible reflexes.

For those worried that the TIE Adv Proto is the A-Wing but better ... can you please post where you saw its dial?

Not pleased about the Adv. Prototype. Lot of other TIEs that deserved that slot more.

The upside, of course, is that HAHAHAHAHA why did people think we'd ever get the TIE Avenger?

I feel like the TIE Avenger is now more likely than ever, now that the whole "They won't add ships with overlapping roles" argument is down the toilet.

Just...not in Wave 8 obviously.

Adv. Prototype:

-did we really need this

Nope. We needed the TIE Aggressor.

It does feel a little awkward design-space wise, as it'll be almost the same point cost as the Interceptor and barring a wildly different dial, it'll probably play similarly. But, at the end of the day, odds are the orders came down from above that this was going to be the Rebels wave, and the Tie Advanced Prototype is literally the only new imperial ship to come from Rebels.

Or maybe this wasn't a top-down decision, and Alex Davy and the design team just really like Star Wars: Rebels.

Yeah, after the question & answer session at last year's In Flight Report, I was pretty certain we'd see Star Wars: Rebels ships sooner rather than later. He said that they liked what they saw on Rebels, and that if the licensor agrees they could pursue that direction for the game. That's almost like saying, "Yep, we're making the Ghost and other ships from the show."

Adv. Prototype:

-did we really need this

Nope. We needed the Assault Gunboat.

ftfy

Could have fit the same upgrades, minus title, and had another copy of Tractor Beam

Dengar being PS9 is a little wierd.

Yeah, weird that hes 9.

Also, that's what we said about decimators, remember?? guess how that turned out.

Anyone else wanna contribute some pros and cons of the 7.5 and 8?

It's not weird at all. Dengar is a Corellian. All Corellians get 9s (Wedge, Han, Soontir). It's in their genetics :)

Deci came with ysanne (more balanced c3po) and can take rebel captive

Punishing one has nothing and will hopefully remain that way

The title was a really bad idea. Basically killed any build diversity in the jump master as there's really no reason not to run the 3 dice PWT (45 for the PS 9; one less than han)

Without a cannon slot, best you can do is deadeye + proton torps + em (7 total) and add r4 for quasi fully modified 4 dice shots

Also recon + r4 can fire fully modded plasmas and then they'll lop off an extra ashield

12 points is a helluva big reason to /not/ run the title in plenty of cases.

it's pretty big reason not to run the ship at all, sure

Unless deadeye (which even the generic can take), r4 aggro torps take off; jumpy here will be too limp dicked to contribute much without the title

Coulda had a cannon slot or the title could've cost 6 and only worked in arc etc

So far our only hope other than torps are some miraculous pilot abilities

The thing about the title, is that it is clearly costed at another ship.

And it is early to say what the ships get or don't get. There is a LOT of upgrades that we don't know about. And key for Scum, 4 BH crew. The Outrider title didn't become auto include, even after the Mangler cannon was released, as there were still Outriders winning without the title.

Quite honestly, I think this is why I am so excited for this wave. Yes, there is a lot of expensive ships. But just look at the shear amount of upgrades we are getting. And a lot of them will be usable with other ships.

I am just thrilled it appears they took the advice from the forums about adding the 3rd die to the title and making it really expensive and limiting it to one "Punishing One" and not redoing the Dual "Falcon" debacle

Corran is Corellian

Yeah, but he's no Luke Skywalker (direct quote from Commander Antilles)

MY faith is restored. My wallet is doomed. Long live the corporate empire.

Kinda my thoughts when I saw the Ghost and the Phantom in Wave 8.

That said...I can see why they did what they did. More well known to the public, named pilots that people actually have seen ON SCREEN, etc. And then the whole theme of the wave, outside of the Scum faction, being 'Star Wars: Rebels'...

This is important. Having well-known ships in the game is important for attracting new players as well as maintaining some existing players' interest. e.g. In my playgroup, we were rather disappointed in Wave 7 due to the lack of any ship that has appeared in a movie or TV show. Wave 8, on the other hand, has 2 that appeared in a movie/TV show. We think that's cool.

Some synergies are pretty obvious from the get go though

Dengar's ability, for example, is a shoo in for the title no questions asked

Between recon and r4 he has action efficiency to defend himself and fuel 2 attacks. With 2 attacks, he can come out on top in a pwt dicefest. That's before touching his ept slot (ptl for manuevers) or illicit (DAT stim)

The difference between jumpy and the outrider is that the Outrider's dice were not tied to the title (they're tied to hlc).

We also have the kwing, which packs slam and aslam conner nets of doom to distance itself from a 2 dice PWT. There's hope for that ship.

Jumpy has his title and two torp slots. It's too early to proclaim doom, but we can start getting concerned.

Hopefully jumpy's been provided with other pilots that can actually transcend his primary weapon instead of build on it.

The thing about Dengar, which I know you will enjoy, is that his ability still requires maneuvering.

it helps, that's for sure :)

don't think it'll wash the taste of PWT, but it's better than nothing

otherwise, fingers crossed for deadeye!

screw the title i'll get a pair of Adv.Torps ,R4 and Recon Spec. and just shove Dengar right in their faces, hit them with 5 dice and dare them to shoot you so you can do it again.

Dumb ******* deisng space stupid design. Why another 3 dice turret.
