XX-23 Tracer missiles, we need to talk

By Ziusdra, in X-Wing

I am not sold on it. For one it depends on the attack hitting. MF is going to be a must to keep it from points being wasted due to bad luck.

3 dice, definitely focussed, I'd take a chance on them.

These things only need a focus to fire and it doesn't spend the token.

.......... I thought that was what I just said

It might have been, I wasn't sure.

If it isn't, it's what I meant lol

I'm getting a 404 on the website. What does this card do?

3 dice, focused, and if you want extra insurance against bad luck give the firer Crack Shot ;)

3 Tempests and Darth Vader, all with ATC and Tracers. Viable?

Also, they synergize beautifully with title TIE Advanced v1s.

TIEs focus, High PS wingmate pops someone with the Tracers, titles TIEs all snag both a TL and an Evade token. Triple actions, effectively.

Where is the evade token coming from?

TIE/v1 title.

One point missile, uses the ion pulse mechanic. Attack (Focus), three dice, cancels all dice when it hits and then every ship at R1-2 of the shooter gets a target lock on the target.

Only 1 point.

I love the irony in that this upgrade comes from a ship from a cartoon catered towards children.

"I have a kill shot on this ship, but that would disrupt the story and kill a hero or two, which everyone knows wont happen. So despite my incredible opportunity, I'll shoot this device at them which allows everyone to see where they are instead! Mwhahahahaha!!!"

I'm not sure. Even with ATC locked on the Tempests are going to be forced to attack targets of opportunity more than you'd like. And I'm not certain the Tempest Swarm needs much help against a fat turret build. It's Kryptonite is brobots, and you can't rely on a 3-dice focussed attack reliably hitting an IG-2000.

Even without Ordnance, you could have a TIE advanced of your choice throw that thing out and then give a bunch of Interceptors or Fighters Target Locks.

Yeah, this was my thought. Maybe gives TIE (or Z, or A, or...?) swarms a bit of a boost against lists that have only a couple ships. That missile hits and it's like everyone has Howlrunner, once. Except better.

For you guys thinking of Jonus, you should forget about him. It's cheaper and more reliable to drop him and go for 4 Scimitars with Homing Missiles and EM. You get to keep the TL and use it in the attack. The weakness of Jonus is that you need him for all your ordnance to work and he gets targeted first (trust me). Also, you don't have to fly in formation this way, either.

If you are facing a ship that isn't that agile....this is a real winner! Blount can lead up a Z-ordnance swarm like crazy.

Blount w/ this tracker and as many Z's as you can load up with Concussion Missiles. They Focus each turn and Blount gets the shot off with the tracker. He always hits and they will end up with Concussion Missiles and Focus. That means each shot as a 94% of getting at least 3 hits.

Jendon won't work, I don't think. Being handed a TL token is not the same thing as acquiring a TL. (Which itself is not the same thing as taking an "cquire TL" action.)

Are you sure? I don't see anything in the FAQ that differentiates "being given a token" from "acquiring a token". If you hand me $5, I have acquired $5. This seems like a great way to get Jendon some more play, it would be a shame if it didn't work. It seems like most of the Shuttle Pilots have loopholes from keeping them from being really useful.
