Congratulations for making a ship that can possibly 1 shot a bwing

By barriecritzer, in X-Wing

Yeah, you can't complain about the ship being 'good at everything' in Rebels and then not complain about the Falcon in the films.

The Falcon was a piece of crap. It was just a really fast piece of crap. The Falcon is constantly breaking down and causes as many problems as it solves. It's fast and has some aftermarket military modifications. It's got a great pilot but it's not a particularly amazing ship.

What does the Falcon do in the first film? It gets caught in a tractor beam, people hide in secret compartments, it blows up a flight of TIE fighters that Tarkin wanted it to escape from, it swoops in and blasts some TIEs that are focused on killing Luke. You never really see its speed, for all you know that's just part of Solo's sales pitch to land a job.

In Empire the Falcon breaks down, it eludes some TIEs in an Asteroid field, it hides by parking on a Star Destroyer and then blends in with the trash, it limps to Cloud City, Lando uses the elevator.

In Jedi it is flown by the guy leading an attack run, it shoots some TIEs, Lando knocks the dish off.

And blews up the Death Star.

Erm, no.

The Falcon was a piece of crap- it only got the crew through every combat encounter it was involved with- it's almost like, y'know, star wars is a franchise about adventure and that's what those ships are all about. Things go wrong with the Ghost in Rebels, too, but being on TV things move more quickly.

Lando dogfights ties like nobody's business in Jedi, too.

Ghost and Phantom will be a 100 point list. Basically this expansion is essentially a stand alone tourney kit. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, actually it's pretty awesome. I've found Decimators pretty squishy, The ghost will be no different.

They took that ridiculous Mary Sue of a ship

What makes the Ghost a 'Mary Sue' except that you don't like it? If you are going to use a pejorative, at least use it correctly.

While Vader has no problems blowing up a bunch of A-Wings and that superfat corvette only with some shots of his TIE, it takes him forever to do nothing to the Ghost, even when the Ghost is being hit by Vader almost all the time. Everything it's needed for the Ghost to survive is that Hera keeps repeating "The shields will stand! The shields will stand!". And a ship that size cannot be trapped by two tractor beams pointing at it, while they trap Vader.

Yeah, it's not a Mary Sue at all.

Obviously Vader was getting in Range 1 of that command ship with his ATC. I counted 7 times he shot the thing with his TIE Advanced so 3 dice at range 1 with focus+Lone Wolf and auto crit against 0 evade dice and no evade tokens. That comes to around 21 hits if he never misses, along with 7 crits from ATC. Makes sense the thing would go down after that many hits.

Against Hera in the Ghost, he was a lot further back and his intention was not to kill them but to cripple the fleet and capture them alive. He specifically mentioned it multiple times that he wanted them alive. He attacked but maybe he didn't use his Lone Wolf rerolls and never acquired a Target Lock for ATC.

Yes I just did that. No I don't regret it.

I don't I've lost one in all the games I've used it (dozen or so), I took a patrol with no upgrades against a high ps rebel list last Thursday it still had nine hull points left after I'd won.

The dial will make or break the ghost.

Yeah, it's not a Mary Sue at all.

But it's not when Han or Luke does it?

I heard that bacon is very good this time of year.

Forget one-shotting a B-Wing. I can't wait for the first tourney report where this thing manages to one-shot Boba Fett.

4 shields, plus three Direct Hits. It's going to happen to someone.

The Millennium Falcon takes the lead role as part of the fighter complement of the Rebellion's largest-ever fleet action. The Falcon not only survives this action, it thrives; its most dangerous opponent is the Death Star's walls, not hostile fighters or fire from warships.

And it's a modified light freighter. Yeah, it's pretty good.

technically that's 2-shot

Ghost title gives you two ships worth of firepower for two ships worth of cost (gotta buy dat shuttle)

Oh don't feed the trolls. Especially ones that insist on using the R word.

I know "rebels" should not be used in polite company

I prefer to call them Terrorists in polite company. On ship through they are scum or dogs
