Any nationals news or somewhere that's covering it?

By mege, in Star Wars: Armada

I'm a little disappointed at the people dropping, but it sounds like a lot of these are people that haven't played in a tournament before this for Armada. I know two of my usual group who are more into X-Wing wound up registering because they didn't make the top 16 the day before, and wound up dropping after Round 2. I think what we will see going forward is people focusing their time and energy on either X-Wing or Armada (Or Imperial Assault) at higher levels, and ignoring the other one(s).

I wish I had been there for this, would have been fun.

I wish I could of been there to give my Fleet a run. 296 points as Rebels with 3 Neb B's Two with X17's one with Salvation, third naked with Dodonna, 2 A-wings and a Space Whale with X99's and Paragon.

Second was taken by Rebels! 2 Assault Frigates, a CR-90, and some A-Wings

From what I heard most of the top players are running no squadrons...this makes me very sad.

I have been watching our local game store tournaments here since the game launched. No players (winning the tournaments) in my state run squadrons. I'm super bummed over it too. Obviously many people will come in here and defend squadrons, but the proof one way or the other will play out at gencon. Hopefully i'm wrong, but i don't see a fighter heavy build being all that viable.

I'm fairly confident I would given that list a very good game, and with luck, beaten it. Play against that all the time in the local meta.

I guessed before Nationals that the meta at the event would either be

Imperials-
Glad Swarm
2 Glad 2Vic
Double Vic

Rebels-
2 AF2
Gallant Haven Aces High
Corv Spam

Glad to see I was mostly right.

(I'm posting here as well so more interested people will get the news)

Sorry for the delay in my report, but other Gen Con activities grabbed my attention. The winning list was the 1 Vic-3 Glad, he had 8 tournament points over second place.

Here is the list.

Second place was a rebel list with 2 AF (one mk A and one B), a CR90 A, and 3 A-wings (one was Tycho). He ran Garm Bel Imblis as his commander. Both AFs had Enhanced Armament; one had Imblis and Paragon, the other had Intel Officer and Gunnery Team. He actually defeated me at table 3 in the final round and moved up to 2nd place. (I gotta learn how to deal with AFs with my list).

Here is a picture of the top two.

I also have recorded interviews with both top 2 players that will be posted (in a new post) once I make sure they are edited. They sounded good, but I'm going to see if I can do anything for the background noise.

Super nice guy. Can't wait to hear that interview.

Does anyone have the lists for the folks beyond the top 2? Like down the list to say #16 or so?

I'm sure a few other participants would be able to share their lists, but I don't have that information. I placed 15th and will post my list and a batrep from round 4 later this week.

Quynh and Bryan have posted their lists elsewhere. Francios had the 2x Vic 2x gladiator list.

Daniel (me) brought Vic 2 + Screed + XI7 with a pair of Glad-1 + ACM + Engine Techs (One demolisher)

5th or 6th was Rhymer's Flying Circis with 2 Vics.

Julian (8th) was a CR90 (blue dice) swarm. Mon Mothma, 2 intel agents, 2 overload pulses, and a dodonna's pride spread 1 card per ship.

I remember 1-2 rebel aces types builds in the top 16ish too. Not all the aces though, some were swapped for more b-wings.
